I'm still playing on the pre-31st March patch and think I read they adjusted (or maybe planned to adjust??) something related to parrying - the timing or period it's active or something...
It negatively effects your damage. I went through the same thing:

I did what I normally do in every game hat has them, and spent the game with most consumables in the ‘too good to use’ pile, so had 20 magic restore items too, so when I was getting really close to the final hits but needed more time, I started to use those, that second phase does go quickly too.
Of course, this is assuming you’ve done the ‘prep’ work and not rushed to the fight,
I personally used the Orange Trinket and kept my health around half-quarter to ensure I could pump out damage without getting one shot.
Getting hit isn't meant to be the end of the world, but losing your cool definitely is.
I am not sure it was designed that way by the game designer but I noticed that if one can win the boss battle while playing as suggested (e.g. parry, block, roll, slash, etc.), it is possible to just go full frontal: the closer the better.
Plus I found (I might be stupid though) bosses have more stable patterns when the player is in close range.
But, I was wondering if one can avoid the fight withe Heir and save him directly if they have completed the Mountain Door quest before the final fight[spoiler/]?
Orange Peril Ring + Cyan Peril Ring is absolutely busted. I'm honestly kind of baffled how powerful the buffs they provide are. Go into the fight as normal, popping potions to heal when needed, but when you run out of heals, it's go time. Reaching the low health threshold, your attack and defense explodes, letting you deal incredible damage and can even tank what feels like several extra hits. Even when it seems dire, it's still VERY possible to squeeze out a win with these buffs active, and it feels great when you do. Best of luck to those still attempting this boss!
"Absolute hell?" Seriously, what?
Heir should take maybe 2 tries max.
Are you people just bulldozing the game and not even taking time to explore? The halo trivializes every engagement the moment you get it and if you have any attack and defense ups, this game becomes Kirby. None of these bosses are hard. When you see a wind up, put your shield up or use the busted ass dash.
Zip behind her, triple slash into gun. Repeat. She has like 2 extremely obvious and slow attacks. Jesus Christ.
So, no matter how hard The Heir is, you are not supposed to fight her at all, right?
PS: I used the above recommendation of two rings (attack and defense when low on health), plus the scavenger mask, plus the halo.
It felt very hard in my first tries. But after equipping these, I managed to down her in two tries.
