About the runic language
So I just wanted to ask if I have to translate/figure the language out myself or if I find some kind of tool that reveals the language as I go?
If I have to translate it myself: Is it basically "english" with a different cipher?

without totally spoiling it, can you recognize what the tree looking rune before most phrases and words might mean?

People have done translations and have cheat sheets if you don't have the time for reverse engineering it when you complete the game, but it's not neccessary to know the rune language to complete it.

Sorry I am not sure which "tree looking rune" you mean because It feels like most runes look different at the beginning of a "sentence".
My problem is that I would love to figure it out on my own but I feel lost and unsure on how/where to start because it feels like I have nothing to reference against

you won't get a good look at how they work until the end of the game. Maybe keep hunting for more pages

Just to answer this, without giving too much away: Yes, it's English. No, it's not a cipher of English letters.

Hope that helps.

No, I don't think you ever get a tool. Yes, it's English with a cipher, but it's a kinda quirky cipher. It's like they tried to create a cipher where each "character" represents a consonant sound - vowel sound pair, except that doesn't actually work in English, so they then tacked on a bunch of characters representing just consonant sounds, then a few for vowel - consonant pairs... it's quirky. I'm only halfway through deciphering it, I think, having recently realized it works this way and starting to pull apart all the words I thought I'd figured out.

Fun fact: each character can have any combination of twelve lines and a lil circle, for a total of 2^13 possible characters. If we assume the empty/blank character is not allowed, that leaves 8191 possible characters.

I might be going nuts figuring this out.
