Sorry to hear about your crashing issues.
Have you tried disabling any background applications that are not required for your system to run?

Pretty sure it's a bug specific to your game. If it helps, it has been consistent between all the nvidia drivers I have used over the past few months too. Again I have submitted lots of automatic crash reports when it asks - but I don't know how to look at the report details myself to get some kind of hint what could be causing it.
I just ran into this problem myself, first time ever..
It seemed that after I opened the map and put down a marker and closed the map the game crashes after 2-3 seconds..
But now it crashes at random, and this began after I went into a new map zone.
I managed to do 100% map completion in the south west zone without any crashes, but after I traveled to the north zone to start doing missions there these problems began..
I've googled for solutions and I've seen these "ubisoft support" people giving the same copy paste answer "Have you tried disabling any background applications"
And yes I've tried to restart the PC and only run uplay and then Farcry5, I tried to lock the frames to 60-70-80-144 frames etc, I tried low, medium, high and ultra + mixed settings, fullscreen/borderless window etc, v-sync on and off both in the game settings and the Nvidia panel,
I tried to change the performance and power usage on the Nvidia GPU panel from Default>high performance, balanced, Ultra etc.
I tried to turn off/on Nvidia Experience overlay, start with and without Experience.exe...
And I have verified all the game files via Uplay. (no errors)
My temperatures are all good, 60-ish on the gpu, 50 on the cpu, 30-ish on motherboard etc, so it's not a heat issue.
I've been monitoring it on my 2nd screen and no spikes or any overheating issues.
So I've tried and looked at lots of areas to find a problem but nothing, the same random crashes occur, No error message from Windows, only Uplay is asking me to send in crash reports every time..
I believe it has something to do with the game itself,
The game might have a memory leak issue that triggers when you open/close the map sometimes?
Or either the Save has gotten corrupted and causes a crash when it auto-saves or when you open & close the map in which the game auto-save sometimes = crash?
Or maybe theres some games files that are conflicting after you leave one map zone and go into another zone which is crashing the game after you reached a certain map % completion? (I'm just speculating)
Specs: ( no overclocking )
Gtx 1070 Strix (newest driver)
Intel i7 6700k
16gb ddr3 ram
SSD
W7 64-bit (all updates)
Motherboard with latest drivers, same for the chipset driver, everything is up to speed.
Far Cry 5 is the only game that crashes for me.
EDIT: Yes I've sent in all the crash reports.
UPDATE!
So I used the fast travel to travel away from the North "Jacob's region" to Faith's region down in the south east, and I have not had a single crash now, so there seems to be some weird conflict in the game where if you complete John's region quests first and then go to Jacob's region you will start having crashes..?
BTW, the only 3 misc-quests objectives that I picked up in John's region are the ones where you need to collect 10+ ''Cheeseburger Bobbleheads, Lighters & some Comic Books'' that all are scattered across the entire world map.
Come to think about it, I got these random crashes after I did all the main & side quests in John's region and started to collect the rest of the 'Bobbleheads, Lighters & Books' in Jacob's region..
Hmh...
I've been playing in south east in Faith's region for 6+ hours now without any crashes, can't wait until I go back to Jacob's region to see if the crashes will continue
Had several crashes during the 1st part of the game (training island). Now when I try to continue, it crashes every time at launch.
Sorry to hear that your game is crashing.
