FPS drops until opening and closing menu?

Hi all, im playing on a really overpowered gaming laptop. i7 7700, gtx 1080, 16 GB ram. It easily surpasses the recommended requirements, and i can run the game at max settings, most of the time at over 100 fps without much issue.

But every couple minutes, it slows down. Things drop to about 10fps and everything feels awful. Not prompted by any specific event i can tell, it can happen alone or in a fight.

When this happens, all i have to do is open the menu (esc) and close it again, the lag is gone. But it'll happen again a couple minutes later.
It's not a huge deal since its so easily dispelled, but it is a minor annoyance.

Any idea what could cause it? Any similar issues?

Thank you for reporting this to us, I'm sorry to hear you've been seeing this issue.

Are you running any other programs aside from the game? Anything that could be regularly updating or checking for updates?

Additionally, are you using a controller? Might it possible be thinking you are away and turning on some sort of power saving function?
