Why does this game stutter so much?

I've looked all around google for different solutions and none of them work. I am on a ryzen 5 2600, msi rtx 2060 gaming z, 16gb ram. None of my other games stutter like this including division 2 when all graphics are maxed. Is it just the game engine or something? I can run witcher 3 with ultra hd graphics mod with all settings max and still get smooth 60 fps, i can run division 2 60 fps all graphics maxed, but nope, this game is just all over the place.

Hello!

You should try 2 things:

First set the latency in the the nvidia control panel (for this game only) to ULTRA.
Second, make sure the game runs at 60 hz not more not less. Because the engine has this nasty stutter problem with different frequences.

Bonus tip: Adaptive vsync is helped me to alleviate the issues mostly.
I have an i5 7500 cpu. And i had serious stutter problems... But the most is fixed with the latency option.

I already have ultra low latency mode enabled and the game says 60hz. I've also tried different vsync options like fast sync which just makes it worse.

I'm sorry it did not help... Maybe an older nvidia driver... But i doubt it will help much... I know for a fact the game has problems with some cpu. But i only read certain i5 not ryzen.

You tried disabling the HD textures? Because that known to make the texture load problematic. MAYBE that help.

Turning it off helps but there is still quite a bit of stutter still when driving mostly. It's not constant it just happens every 5 seconds or so and in some areas it wont happen at all.

Exactly! I had this type of stutter too. For me ultra low latency solved the issue. I'm sorry it not helped you. But don't worry, not your machine is the problem. The dunia engine is the culprit...

I also have stutter, the problem is autosave stutter, ubisoft cannot solve. All ubisoft games are completely broken.

Yeah I notice when I pick things up the game also freezes up a bit.

Never stuttered once for me or crashed or done anything negative for that matter. Guess i just picked the right components when the PC was built... Seriously, if you have issues , its your rig, that's the problem not the game, the engine, or the software.
Maybe you have processes running in the background, interfering with performance?
Slow bus speeds?
Inadequate power supply?
Not puffing, not a fanboy, honestly NEVER had a single issue with this game...!

You are lucky, or way above the recommended specs, nothing more. Do you ever heard the silicone lottery? :D This is something like that... And no, the engine had problems with texture or asset streaming. Don't know they fixed it or not, but earlier had problems with i5 cpu-s. Far cry 4 was notorious with the stutter problem. In FC5 they fixed many problem sure, but not all of them. And you are right about that many times, people complain stutter, because cpu bottleneck. But in this case, something else does this. If you look at the cpu benchmark [www.anandtech.com] there is really not much difference in terms of speed.

PS: Just because you don't have problem, does not mean others are wrong, or they have bad computers. In my case the stutter was resolved, with the ultra latency option in the nv driver (before that maximum pre rendered frames option did not solve the problem...). He has something else that make the game unplayable.

The division 2 is a much more demanding game and I have no stuttering issues or minor freeze ups like I do with far cry 5, and I can play division 2 max settings 60fps so it's not my computer. Ubisoft is known for their crap optimization such as assassins creed odyssey, ghost recon, etc...

When the stutters occur, my gpu usage is only at like 46% and cpu usage is only at around 35-40% so there's still plenty of usage left for the game but it seems like it's not using it or something.

My ram is already running in dual channel mode. As for xmp, I'm not comfortable overclocking since I don't want to ruin anything. There is an xmp mode on my motherboard but still I don't want to ruin anything.

I have stutter on both my Laptop and Desktop. When the game came out last year, i had zero stuttering issue's. It seems a driver or a update have broken this game. It stutters every 5 sec's.
