I use a programmable wired controller, (Logitech F310) it maps keyboard keys to the sticks / buttons on the controller
I use its downloadable Gaming Software and create a profile for each game I use with it (Also called Logitech profiler v5.10.127 is what im using even on Win 11),
no need to worry about whether or not a game "supports controllers, " as that "support" seems rather uneven.
look in the upper left corner in STEAM \
you can access them by clicking -> steam / >settings / > controller
also see your far cry 5 read me file in your far cry 5 support folder / readme

Thrustmaster Dual Trigger 3-in-1 V.2

Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710

Sorry to hear it your are having issues with your controller in Far Cry 5.
Please check -=SOF=-WID99's answer and let us know if this helps you or explains why you are facing this issue.
Just decided to play it with the keyboard. Would take to much time to look into the controller issue.
Kinda disapointed with this game. It feels way too generic with all the surounding and houses. Games where loot always looks the same. All the items that can be in houses are all the same like the phones(except the church one), the notices, and the yellow backpack. It just feels like there is nothing to discover, everywhere you go you will just encounter the same over and over again.
Additionaly the craft menu was of no use, when you get thosed so much items at you or can hunt down for so much money you dont waste time on crafting items. So that could have been left out all together and the resources invested into other things, or would have been more polished to be of use, making aquiring those items otherwise more challenging.
The Cluch Nixon things just feelt like pain, they were zero fun and felt like a torture to get trough them. Fishing was horrible, beside the one quest fish which was super anoying to catch because it always reeled off, all the other fishs very so easy to catch, so that mode aswell fellt like zero love went into it and had no balance.
For the story, i didnt feel any satisfication out of it, forced cutscenes with actions i would never agree with force me into directions i didnt want, like when Faith asks you to prove your faith by jumping from the book, i didnt want to, i didnt see a reason for the protagonist toprove anything to Faith, still only the choice was given to jump and waiting didnt change anything. Such scenes just feel unnatural and break the immersion.
Sam for the ending, no ending of the game was giving any satisfication, all we worked toward feelt like gets ignored. Why was there no ending where we can shoot Joseph? We had a gun, we were infront of him, and we only get the choice to arrest him or leave? Cmon, bad writing on its finest. We even let him recitate his verse to his followers over the mictophone so he can set off the nuke if we fight him.
Overall this game was a disapointment.
