Thanks for your reply! I tried selecting only 4 cores but the settings don't stay saved.

Edit: I downloaded Process Lasso and set the priority of the game to always on high and that seemed to fix the stuttering for now.
You can try setting a key in the registry editor so FarCry5.exe will only use 4 cores without needing a third-party program. If you save the following as a .reg file you can easily apply it to your registry:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options/FarCry5.exe/PerfOptions] "CpuAffinityMask"=dword:0000000F

If you don't like it you can just either change the value or delete it to run the game like it would before.

Besides the fact you that have a 14th gen Intel (which will probably have issues at some point anyway) the game seems to just have some traversal stutter I noticed. It seems more dependent on the CPU than the GPU, how bad is the stuttering would you say? Cuz there's a few ways your game could possibly be stuttering (low RAM/VRAM, slow drive speed, CPU being used in other processes, your set power plan, etc.) and each of those types of stutters will feel a bit different. Maybe a video could help?

It's a modern gfx card issue. Back on the 1XXX series of cards (which were around in 2018 when the game was released) there were no stuttering issues.

The issues began with the 2XXX series, and have never been fixed, because by then Ubi had already ended support for the game.

I think there is a workaround fix included with the Resistance Mod. Might be worth checking that out if you're still having issues:

Thanks for the replies! It's very inconsistent stuttering, going from a stable 60-59 to 55-57 fps every 10 seconds i'd say. I'll give the Resistance mod a shot! :lunar2019piginablanket:

limit your CPU cores to 4 should fix it

set it to your 4 fastest cores not your helper cores / so called efficient ones )

new intel CPU's have a few performance cores and others that run at a much slower speed and the games engine really only needs 4 fast ones

see https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/236787/intel-core-i9-processor-14900kf-36m-cache-up-to-6-00-ghz/specifications.html

Total Cores 24
# of Performance-cores8
# of Efficient-cores16
Total Threads 32

the game sees that and goes DUH ..its an old engine and your basically using a server CPU is what it sees

remember the game was developed years before your CPU even was a concept for retail use

check your power settings as well ..in bios as well as WINDOWS itself and your nvidia control panel

make sure all are set to max performance not anything else ..especially Nvidia control panel
