How to command a pilot follower?

In the specific case, I am in the Wrath mission, and trying to get Adelaide to fly her helicopter to chase and attack John's plane. But, just pressing or holding the G or H key doesn't do the trick. Adelaide will climb into the air, if I aim my gun at John's plane while holding the G key. But that'the farthest I've gotten with this. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you have to grab control of a helicopter yourself.
If the NPC is in a plane though there was a video I watched where the NPC did a decent job of taking down Johns plane

Regarding Nick, I blew it. I waited to long to take his recovered plane back to him. Not to give too much of a spoiler, but that didn't end well for poos Nick. But the other suggestion, to just get Adelaide to bring her helicopter to me and then fly it myself, that worked. And it helped me get past the Wrath mission. Now, if only the developers had made it possible to get Adelaide to do something more than fly a helicopter to my character ...... I think she'd be kinda fun to have around, just as Hurk's talk makes him fun to drag around.

Adelaide can be unlocked as a roam around companion
Note to self
[Egads with Far Cry Resistance mod her ex husband Hurk Sr. can be companion with player at the same time and wonder if I have BOTh as companions , would they have hilarious dialogue like some other companion combinations ie Hurk jr and HIS estranged in New Dawn? ]

I already did Friendly Skies. Is there something else that must be done to get Adelaide unlocked as a roam around companion?

Here is a help hint i found
How To Unlock: Head to the river region and speak with Adelaide, who will task you with hunting down her helicopter name Tulip. Return Tulip to the marina, take out the cultists, and then bring the helicopter over to the helipad to add Adelaide as a gun for hire.

Now if you already BROUGHT the helicopter over, try saving and reentering the game and see if she is in the gun for hire list. If she comes in the helecopter, you should be able to order her out or jump in a truck or something and she should exit the helecopter to man the gun or become a passenger (or you man the vehicle gun and she should act as driver).
