AMD Phenom support?
I just discovering unbelievable thing. Yesterday i found youtube video about someone playing div2 with phenom x4. so i just get the game and try it myself. supprisingly i can run it smoothly. then that just got me thinking what about farcry new dawn. and i find some amd phenom benchmark too in youtube.

So how about this game? i heard this game is done and never gonna be patch out again. but new dawn is based from 5 uh? is it that hard to fix it? is it really never gonna get fixed?

i make same thread in Ubi forum too but look like no one in there.

Edit: Actually i don't have any interest in far cry 5 anymore. I just curious about this whole sse4.1 thing

what the hell man. all what you wrote above is just unnecessary. we all know that ♥♥♥♥. everyone just copy paste it in every single thread like this.

but again far cry new dawn which is the newest far cry can be played in phenom cpu. that is the thing

NEW DAWN is a Different title
it does not have an editor nor an Arcade mode like FarCry 5

they have already said on these and other forums no they will not Support OLD Phenom CPU's
if you wish to play this game upgrade your CPU

see this POST from the Developer

It's all old news really besides if you're still running a x4 9xx in 2019 do yourself a favor and drop in a cheap FX8350/8300 if building a whole new tower is out of the budget.

The fact that new dawn based on 5 and have the exac system req. And yet people still replying with the same line just like in every thread like this before.

And so what if i still use phenom x4. I can play division2 smoothly while some people complain about constant crash even with newest rig. Its not about what you have, its more about how you use it

well go buy the game then .. i will laugh at ya when ya post back and tell us that it did not launch
Ubisoft made no secret that they did not support Phenom CPU's for this game ..

again FarCry New Dawn is a totally different game from FAR CRY 5 ..and lacks many features FC 5 has

all i did was post to answer your question to save ya the trouble of trying it

i told ya what i KNOW ..that the DEVELOPER has even posted that Phenom CPU's are not supported by this game .. i even gave you a link to a post by a Ubi employee saying so .

People are replying with the same line in everythread like this as nothing has changed. Some of the features in farcry 5 require the SSE4.1 instructions which phenoms cannot do, they altered this in new dawn, so new dawn will run, but native far cry 5 will not.

How can we post a different answer when the answer has not changed?????

So what if you still use a phenom? Well nothing really, you simply cannot run incompatible game like this.

The fact is technology moves on, just like if you have an old gpu that cannot handle vulkan, you cannot play wolfenstein 2, DOOM etc. If you choose not to upgrade then that is on you, just stop complaining when you try to run a game your obsolete cpu cannot run. (and division 2 is not the be all and end all of gaming).

As people have said, depending on your motherboard, you should be able to drop an fx8350 straight in, they are really cheap right now. (almost half the price of the other fx's, which is bizarre, I assume they made loads and now have a massive stockpile of them).

There still seems to be some confusion on this. In case anyone is wondering if their Phenom will work, I completed this game on a Phenom II X4 965, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. Performance was also fine. I did not try any online game or any DLC.

wew thx man for the update. i just do quick search, look like they patch it recently

Yep they did a silent release patch, so a lot of people still do not realise it now works, saying that not a lot of people still use them, but I do think they could have splashed the news on the steam page or something at least.

yep they did release a patch at the end of November 2019 to allow support for CPU's that lack sse 4.1 and 4.2 instruction sets (this is the case with many older AMD cpu's as they supported only AMD 3D Now instructions )

see the read me file on your hard drive in your FC 5 support directory.

Ubisoft Entertainment
Far Cry® 5 v1.14
################################################################################

Support CPUs without SSE 4.1/4.2. While the game should now run on these CPUs, they are below minimum requirements and we do not offer technical support.
