Since it played so well, I ended up returning the steam version since I already owned it on Ubisoft through Epic.
Once you get Ubisoft Connect installed on your SteamDeck installing and running games is really simple. You don't even need to be in desktop mode once it's installed. I'm actually considering trying out Ubisoft+ (their monthly subscription that is like MS GamePass) to see if I can play Far Cry 6 on my SteamDeck.
Hello! Were you able to try Ubisoft+ on steam deck? I'm thinking of doing the same but haven't seen anyone try it. Thanks!
Yes, see the link I put in my post it has instructions on how to do it. But the gist is you just need to install Usbisoft+ in desktop mode and then add it as an external app in Steam. Then when you run it, it takes you to the Ubisoft landing page where you can install and run games in your Ubisoft library.
Then in Steam mode, you can run it and see your library and launch your installed game.
The only caveat is since to Steam you're only running the Ubisoft+ app the controller settings you customize affects all your games installed and run through Ubisoft+. So if you make a change for one game, it will affect all the other games.
Wow, this sounds terrible. I guess I'll just pass on getting it for now.
Hopefully Ubisoft will one day fix their games on the Steam Deck.
I mean, it works. It's better than Epic or GamePass on the steam deck in that it actually works and is more or less seamless. But I totally understand why you wouldn't want to jump through the hoops.
Yeah, there's no point when I have a huge backlog that keeps increasing faster than my ability to deal with it.
