Did Ubisoft do any research on Montana at all?
Yes, I realize this is just a game...but some observations on how Ubisoft failed Montana...

1) There are like 3 black people in the state. I know you want to be politically correct Ubisoft, but maybe try to keep things a teensie bit realistic?
2) Ties in with point 1...no black people in the cult? I suppose religious extremeism is only a Caucasian thing?
3) Why did you decide that people in Montana all have an Alabama accent? oh wait....this must tie in with the above two points....you decided to model the people of Montana after a southern state.
4) Fishing...you have fish that don't actually exist in the environment you portray. In the mountainous regions of Montana you will only find trout. For every other species found in the game you would have to travel to the plains on the eastern part of the state.

It is just a fantasy game !
Does every thing have to be exact same like real life ? NO !!

I killed many non white cult members. I saw white, black, asian, and hispanic, men and women in the cult. Not just a white thing. Is there a higher raatio of diversity per capita in the game versus real life? Maybe, but gaming companies choose accessibility and diversity over realism and accuracy every time, simply as a business move. Being diverse is good in the modern market.

The accent thing just represent rural people, this is common in media made by people from cities who have never actually been in a rural area. Not just a Far Cry thing. It is biased, but all humans are biased in some form, and how rural people talk and act is one urban people commonly bias. It goes the other way too.

The game is obviously a scaled grouping, but if you notice the Bass, Paddlefish, and Sturgeon are found in the flatter areas, not the mountainous ones. This happens in one county because they were obviously trying to have a diverse biome mash up.

Thought that was pretty funny. To be fair though, you do seem to be pressing for "realism" a bit hard for someone who realizes it's just a game. These are all tiny nitpicks as far as I can tell. I would much rather Ubisoft focus their energy on fixing much bigger problems with the gameplay such as glitches and functionality.

---

Anyway,

1. It's probably just way easier from a developer's point of view. For example, if you make 10 models and only one of them is black, yeah, every model is probably going to get reused a lot, including the black ones. So yeah, you're probably going to have "a lot of black people". Plus, Hope County isn't a real place; maybe they have more blacks there, I don't know. As far as the special characters go like Grace and Tracey, there's not all that many.

2.a. There are black people in the cult.
2.b. You can't complain that the game should only have "like 3 black people" then also complain that the cult needs more black people otherwise it's a "Caucasian thing". Which is it? More black people or not?

3. Actually, a lot of them seem to have pretty strong Canadian accents. lol Sounds like some of them tried to sound American but were very much so Canadian. "Sorry", "Help out", "Dutch out", for some of the more obvious examples.

4. Yeah I'm pretty sure people would find it very stale very quickly if the only thing you could catch is trout. Fun should always outweigh realism. Always. Realsm can sometimes help to make it fun but that's still just to the point of being fun.

Always fun to read what some newbie thinks are original/unique thoughts, when everything they posted was discussed to death in the first few weeks the game launched.

Search is your friend.

There are more then 3 black people in the entire state of montana.

The number of people who list themselves as black or African-American in Montana is 4,145 according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Way more then just 3 like you claimed. So like you said be realistic. Do fact checking before you make your self look like a fool.

ive seen plenty of black people in the game as cultists and allies. i live in agricultural california and there is a hickish accent here. ive heard it in Colorado, Utah, and NewMexico as well.

I think its just how some people talk. not quite Alabama strong but there is ruralness about it.

I forgot about fishing. i need to ttry that

It was an obvious exageration idiot! Are you really that dumb?? So the black population of Montana is less than 1% of the total population....so my point stands, seeing a black person in Monatna is very rare....AND, 90% of the black population in Montana lives in the cities (Bozeman, Billings, etc.) so seeing a black person in rural Montana is EXTREMELY rare. I have lived in the state, have you? Maybe you should do more research before you post and look incredibly foolish.

You must live on a different version of planet earth than me...I am from Colorado, spent a great deal of time in Utah and Montana, and have yet to hear this "hickish" accent....unless talking to people who came from down south.

Edit: I am in no way saying a southern accent is bad or making fun...I am just saying it is dumb that Ubisoft somehow decided that everyone outside of a major metropolitan area speaks like they are from Tuscaloosa.

The whole reason this thread exists is because you want to complain that Ubisoft isn't realistic enough... But this guy is an idiot because he expects you to be realistic in your complaint about realism? Ok.

Irrelevant. Living in Montana doesn't make you an expert on Montana or everyone else wrong about Montana. If they did enough research, someone else could definitely know more about the place where I live than I do, even if they've never lived here. At least when it comes to things like population.

...Did... did you even read his post? I mean, that's literally what he did. lol He did research and said where he got his information from.

If you're going to challenge his source or whatever, then that's fine, but telling him to "do research" in response to him doing research? What? lol

You're the one making claims in the first place. Where's your research? "I've lived there"? lol

I don't think that's how that works. I thought "mic dropping" was reserved for those that make good arguments. This doesn't apply to your case at all.

Also... really? "Mic dropping" your own post? lol

How come the conservatards always have to complain about "liberals forcing their pc" agenda onto video games? Are you bothered that there are black people in a fictional version of a predominately white state?

Well.. You just made yourself a fool over an obvious caricature. Well done!

i've lived in a small town in montana since 2005, here's my reply to the OP

1. there are more black people than most would think in the large cities of montana,.... and much fewer in rural areas--- but they are there,... less than 1% of the population in my town i think --that is rare i guess, but not certainly not EXTREMELY rare. pretty sure people on the message boards would be raising a big stink if there were zero black people in any of these small towns in hope county. i think they did pretty good with this

2. there are black cult members in this game

3. accents are indeed exaggerated/embellished, just like OP points 1,2 and 3

4. valid point on the fish -- most streams and mountain lakes here are occupied by trout (many exceptions though). but imagine the amount of complaining gamers would do if they could only catch trout in this game

far cry 5 is not a montana simulator, but in my opinion they certainly captured the feel and atmosphere of montana

ok well i am from Utah, I lived in Colorado for 6 years and I have lived in Nothern California for like 20 and people in rural areas do , in fact, have a hickish accent. it is no where near as marked as AL or LA but its hickish. maybe its all the Ford commercials they watch, idk, but its there. You should also be aware that many people from the south have migrated to the west in the last 50 -80years.
