i7 6700k (Stock) and RTX 2070 performance issue
Just got an RTX 2070 but still dont seem much difference in terms of performance for my PC. Anyone thinks it may be due to CPU bottleneck?

What are you upgrading from? Shouldnt be a CPU bottleneck, still a good CPU.

yes its a CPU bottleneck. its a GOOD cpu no doubt. i have 2 of them i use and love, but if youre playing at 4k, safe to assume? youre gonna see minimal performance improvement. part of the reason is the 6700k was never designed for 4k gaming. now if youre at 1440p youll se a better improvement butit probably wont be as big a jump as youd expect.

as reference my 6700k with rtx2080 vx my 8700k with rtx2080. the 2nd machine can EASILY outperform in any game at 4k settings, usually by at least 10fps.

Thats the issue. I am not actually playing this game on 4k or even 1440p. I am playing this game on 1080p.

I upgraded from a GTX 970. Yeah it is very strange when i can dip to 40 fps on ultra at 1080p

Lowering the graphics would increase the bottleneck from the CPU.

Nope. I dont think that is the issue. My CPU usage for this game sits around 60% while my GPU usage is around 50%. Even lowest settings, the fps isnt much different. The temperatures all seems fine. Something is definitely wrong. I tried the changing the memory settings in my gigabyte mobo bios to enhanced performance but still no difference.

Have you tried other (new/old) Games?

wanna know something weird, ALL of the games I play perform worse on ALL of my machines at 1080p. =P

food for thought

have you tried 1440p ALL low settngs and ONE at a time tried each setting combination. this kind of troubleshooting can take up to 2 hours depending how many combinations there are.

this is really the only way to find the best settings at any resolution.
