You dont need them, its faster to farm the in game money instead

You can find ~960 silver in safes, I would agree it is quicker to just farm in game cash instead.

i farm by hunting moose or bason and throw the bait to kill cougars and bears and then sell all of it with the 2x hunting perk + the bow, which = 4 skins each kill. do the math its like 3 kills you can do per animal species and you sell it for a decent amount. i think i used silver dollars once to try it. im too rich to care to spend them, and i think i have 230 amount so its not much when it comes to silver dollars

There is 40 silver in each cult outpost in the map.
You can find some in other safes too around the world.

You don't even need the Silver Bars.
Unlike AC:O you can buy everyting with ingame money.

Yup, just farm ingame cash for stuff. Save Silver for DLC content that may not use the ingame cash. I can't imagine the Mars DLC will have use for the ingame cash, I could be wrong though.

But buying stuff with server means it will stay on my account even if I delete my save and start over, effectively being like new game +

But you still lose all your perks so you're going to be doing outposts/bunkers and getting all your perk magazines back so you might as well re-purchase the weapons as you go. My opinion, at least.

Plus, there's so few weapons and rarely a need for a specific vehicle so you don't even have much you need to buy. By your second run, you probably already know which guns you prefer and can buy them in no time.

If he bought, like, the unique SA-50 or something though, that would be a pretty monumental difference in early game, between having to use the sort of rubbish snipers, and instead having access to the biggest gun conceivable.
Although ammo would probably be a problem, and there would also be the annoyance of needing to unlock the 3rd and 4th weapon slots, so, win some, lose some, I guess.

I'll be honest with you, you don't really need the silver bars in the game to get what you want. I haven't spent a single bar on ANYTHING and I basically have everything I want. Just do some hunting to get those skins/pelts. Here's a spot I REALLY recommend:

Look on the map in Faith's region and look for Moonflower Trailer Park.

You're going to see two little river banks and a bridge north west from it on the map's perspective. Around there is a place called "Dead Man's Mill." BRING BOOMER WITH YOU, he'll make hunting a whole lot easier and save you Ultimate Hunter drugs. You actually have to go there for a quest to get a wheel and find a stash in the waterfall. If the quest is still active, enemies will keep spawning there so it's best you finish the quest and not worry about them spawning anymore.

Look at the zipline next to the bridge on the waterfall. Travel down the slope on the left of the zipline and keep roaming that area. Hares and sometimes alpha deer/hares, and other animals will spawn there guaranteed (alphas are chance, though.) Hunt what you find and get the pelts. Then travel to Eden's Convent that's directly above Dead Man's Mill on the map, sell your loot and repeat.

It only takes a few minutes to make about $6000+ if you use your bow and not a gun, and have the harvest master's perk.

Odd no one has mentioned the 100 silver bars you get for completing 50% in both personal and community progress, in live events.
