Why FarCry 5 is worse than 3,4
Just in my short amount of time playing this game I can already see the simple reason as to why I feel this game while good, is inferior to 3 & 4.

In 3&4 I always felt it was neceessary to use stealth. I felt as if I was being rewarded with a simpler overall outpost takeover by not having to deal with extra enemies arriving due to alarms being triggered and there was also this sense of progression and therefore getting the extra XP was so important. In this farcry, there aren't really any upgrades that I'm dying to get and the upgrades aren't tied to an XP system from liberating outposts like it was in the past.

I don't need health upgrades because the game has made the shooting and shootouts so much easier overall. I can literally see myself running and gunning throughout this entire game. On the normal difficulty, shooting does not feel challenging whatsoever.

It's something to do with enemy reaction times, or their accuracy firing weapons, or the damage specifically the lack thereof that they dish out this time around.

I don't feel that there is anything to work towards and therefore it makes the game give me this feeling of lack of progression. It sets the standard difficulty very low and never do I feel like I'm at a point where I need to work to improve my skills in order to overcome the threats that are to come in later levels.

Maybe I'm judging too soon and the game gets harder as I go, but so far I just don't feel any incentive for stealthing outposts or any danger when I traverse the world. The AI is far less threatening this time around or something.

And therefore, from a structured gameplay standpoint, Farcry 3 and 4 feel like they just win by default. They just felt so much more structured with a well designed progression system that kept the player engaged whilst having them feel a sensible challenge throughout.

It’s an easy game tbh, I have an LMG with a suppressor as my main weapon and I can take down anything the game throws at me

far cry 4 is still my favorite far cry, the setting, and literally almost everything about far cry 4 i enjoyed.

Far cry 3 is still the best. I think Far Cry 5 is better than 4.

It seems just sloppy overall too. Like if you engage enemies on the side of the road trucks just keep showing up again and again and again with new enemies. Like they didn't program them to stop at a certain point.

Just seems ridiculous.

Far Cry 3's story and leveling up with FC4's weapons but with FC5's world would be awsome...

Game is good but its too dumbed down even on hard there is basically no challenge, im not joking i finished this game 100% including all achievements in 4 days, there is absolutely nothing to do anymore besides playing the super unpolished arcade mode, i loved the setting, the soundtrack and the gunplay mechanics but its a super short game and don't let me get started on the lack of gun variety nearly all SMGs are MPs, and nearly all Rifles are AKs and ARs, the guy or team in charge of gun design was super lazy on the job.

Are there less story missions than in previous far crys?

What I can't get over is that it's just so damn easy. Like I've never felt so OP in a Farcry game before. In previous games, I actually had to concern myself with how many health kits I had, how much body armor I had before beginning quests... I remember caring about how much health I had.

Now, I can just run into an outpost and whack the retarded AI in the head with a baseball bat over and over again. It's like they're all so stupid in this game. They run towards my location before they even know where I am so they're unalerted to my presence and not prepared for an attack. And when they stare at me point blank it takes a long time for the detection meter to fill up.

If they're firing at me it takes a good 10 seconds before they kill me with full health. In the previous games if they landed a good shot it would drain all your health bars. Now 5 of them can be all shooting at me at once and I can run away and let my health regen behind cover.

You're right. The perfect description of it is a "dumbed down" farcry game. No more strategy required anymore at all.

What i hate the most about Far Cry 5 is that it's not like 3,4 where you have your main mission highlighted and there's side missions there just in case you don't want to complete things, if you want to just do the story. In Far Cry 5, you just do camps over and over to clear certain areas and then the final.

I agree that Far Cry 5 definitely feels a lot more streamlined than its predecessors, however, I have to give them credit where it's due the gunplay is tight, the world is so masterfully designed, and its just overall dumb fun.

My own personal gripe is that they dumbed down the animations across the board which was very much a far cry signature. No healing animations, no takedowns, certain weapons were streamlined (c4 and mines sharing assets, no longer using a detonator, instead having a button click). I feel like ripping out a lot of what made far cry so unique as a shooter.

I'd put 3 as the best farcry, then 4, with 2 and 5 about the same level.

I have to admit that being pulled out of soaring in the sky with a wingsuit to a mission without any warning was a little disconcerting.

That might be why I love 5. The setting and map. I can invest in it more into it. Never got into 4, loved 3.

Same. 3 is my favorite FPS ever. 5 is great cuz I love the wilderness. 4 seems very dark, damp and weird. Also don’t like the map on 4.

I have animations with the take downs in my Far Cry 5 game. Same for the healing one.

My major complaint about Far Cry 5 is the forced story missions interruptions of your play time. Hate that with a passion. Did not have that issue with Far Cry 3. But other than a couple major flaws, Far Cry 5 is better overall than Far Cry 3 when it comes to many features.

However, as is, I will rate Far Cry 3 better. It has a better story progression and even the story itself is better. Makes more sense. In Far Cry 5, I feel they are pushing a political narative. Then coupled with the forced story missions, just makes what is other wise a great game, a mixed bag.

It is also a more believable story in Far Cry 3. In 5, there is no way, in Montana esp. any cult could take over that large of a area and not have the National Guard called to take their asses down.

I think the OP's points are well made when it comes to stealth esp.
