Setting I like 5 more, but 4 has tighter design.
Just seems ridiculous.
Are there less story missions than in previous far crys?
What I can't get over is that it's just so damn easy. Like I've never felt so OP in a Farcry game before. In previous games, I actually had to concern myself with how many health kits I had, how much body armor I had before beginning quests... I remember caring about how much health I had.
Now, I can just run into an outpost and whack the retarded AI in the head with a baseball bat over and over again. It's like they're all so stupid in this game. They run towards my location before they even know where I am so they're unalerted to my presence and not prepared for an attack. And when they stare at me point blank it takes a long time for the detection meter to fill up.
If they're firing at me it takes a good 10 seconds before they kill me with full health. In the previous games if they landed a good shot it would drain all your health bars. Now 5 of them can be all shooting at me at once and I can run away and let my health regen behind cover.
You're right. The perfect description of it is a "dumbed down" farcry game. No more strategy required anymore at all.
My own personal gripe is that they dumbed down the animations across the board which was very much a far cry signature. No healing animations, no takedowns, certain weapons were streamlined (c4 and mines sharing assets, no longer using a detonator, instead having a button click). I feel like ripping out a lot of what made far cry so unique as a shooter.
I have to admit that being pulled out of soaring in the sky with a wingsuit to a mission without any warning was a little disconcerting.
That might be why I love 5. The setting and map. I can invest in it more into it. Never got into 4, loved 3.
Same. 3 is my favorite FPS ever. 5 is great cuz I love the wilderness. 4 seems very dark, damp and weird. Also don’t like the map on 4.
I have animations with the take downs in my Far Cry 5 game. Same for the healing one.
My major complaint about Far Cry 5 is the forced story missions interruptions of your play time. Hate that with a passion. Did not have that issue with Far Cry 3. But other than a couple major flaws, Far Cry 5 is better overall than Far Cry 3 when it comes to many features.
However, as is, I will rate Far Cry 3 better. It has a better story progression and even the story itself is better. Makes more sense. In Far Cry 5, I feel they are pushing a political narative. Then coupled with the forced story missions, just makes what is other wise a great game, a mixed bag.
It is also a more believable story in Far Cry 3. In 5, there is no way, in Montana esp. any cult could take over that large of a area and not have the National Guard called to take their asses down.
I think the OP's points are well made when it comes to stealth esp.
