best rifle for hunting.

looking to extend the fun by doing some hunting. i have the prestiege semi 50cal but also want the 308 rifle. is the 50 better than the second unlocked rifle?

go with the 45/70 or a .308, both are very good for hunting in the game and very common rounds for hunting IRL

Use a bow and get double skins. then get the perk that doubels it again. if hunting with a bow is tricky pick up Jess. She can help you attack animals with a bow so if you get all tactical you can flank and double-team animals. Cash for days

Like he said, use the bow. Throw bait, headshot cougar, get 4 skins each worth 225.
But for rifles, the 50 kills them in one hit so you don't have to run them down.

using the recurve and have to say that feels better than the 308 even though it gets headshots easy. the despawn mexhanics in this game are so freaking bad you cant make it to the long range kills/chases in time.
