What is Fishing bait for?
I have fished in game for ages now and I am trying to get Old Betsy, or whatever the fishing rod is called. I got Pallid Sturgeon after 1 hour of fishing (irl time). And then I thought: Maybe if there was some bait that attracked one fish better? Anyone who can answear this question? Thanks

switch the lure type with scroll wheel while hovering over the fishing rod and holding alt, also, the fishing perk doesnt hurt.

Okay, let me say this another way. I have completed everything in the game unless getting this fishing rod. I know how to use bait. I just don't know what it is for.

The bait allows you to catch record breaking fish at the HARD spots, at least I read that somewhere. By the way, I used the baits and caught each HARD spot fish under 10 tries, sometimes the first bite was a record breaker. So if you were able to catch one with basic bait perhaps the special baits only give you an increased chance.

Hybrid sturgeon makes it easier to catch sturgeon, salmon egg easier to catch salmon, etc. You can catch a pallid sturgeon every cast using the proper bait in the proper location.
