It is still possible to play with a friend ?

Hi, getting the hype of this current steam sale me and my friend decided to buy this game, but before we trow money to our lord and savior gabe newell. We really want to know if co-op multiplayer is still a thing, since we are still frustrated from the splinter cell blacklist multiplayer wich was only working for one of us and eventually got refunded.

So i wonder if one of u guys can please tell if it still works if i invite him to my world, lobby or whatever similar this game uses. Im not talking about matchmaking btw, i saw some ppl saying that it was dead but even if it wasn't we only want to play with each other so... If someone can help us get rid of this question we would really apreaciate it. Thanks in advance !

Yes, co-op still works. You just need to be friends with your co-op buddy on Uplay, and it will work fine.

Note: Both of you need to have completed the "Dutch's Island" tutorial section at the beginning before you can co-op together.

As far as i understand, the coop will always work because its peer to peer (pc to pc) without requiring a server.

all co op and MP connection is handled via UBI connect

Only the matchmaking but not the connection between the players, basically ubisoft connect works as a micro bridge between each system but it doesnt rely on a server.

and if the ubi connect servers are offline you can not connect ..yes it has already happened in the past ..but they are good at getting them back up quickly when there is an issue ../and yes that has happened since the game shipped in 2018 for short periods .. PLUS yes you need to add your friends in UBI connect to connect for co op play as ST Mil pointed out

so yes servers are needed and USED

i have owned the title since the day it shipped in 2018 , chose to buy it on UPLAY ONLY as all steam adds is more DRM

Yes, thats what i meant i mean, in short ubisoft IS needed for you to play in coop, but what i mean is it doesnt depend on a server for example to validate specific data like cash ammo weapons etc, otherwise cheating (in a singleplayer game) would lead you to an account termination.

Good info, thanks tho i read somewhere that the anti cheat was removed more than a year ago, also read it had console commands for cheating and all that but really didnt search much into it since i wasnt interested in cheating.

easy anti cheat was removed in the final patch for the game in nov 2019
at the same time they added support for CPU's that lacked sse4.1 sets needed for that software ..such as AMD PHENOM quad core or better cpu's , as those CPU lacked that instruction set at the hardware level , as AMD chose to go with 3d NOW on those CPU's

also as far as i am aware far cry 5 has no console access like older games such as far cry 1 had .. as this is a different version of the DUNIA 2 engine as was explained to me at E 3 2017 when i attended as a UBISOFT star player ..for FAR CRY 5 and spoke with the DEV team and got to play the game before anyone else (an alpha build of course of the falls end region )

hmm funny too as i have my FAR CRY 5 DEV tee shirt on today that was givin to me at E 3 2017
