Game not using GPU
For some reason this game doesnt want to use my graphics cards power. I didnt know this until I had memory exhaustion errors after the game crashed several times. I am playing on a GTX 1060. Is there any way to fix this or is Ubi never going to optimize the game?

yes you can fix it, go into settings- video and somewhere you should be able to select your GPU. i also have a 1060 and everything works just fine.
Ill have to try that but I could have sworn that it was already selected my GPU last time I checked.

otherwise look into your nvidea control panel and look if something changed.
What should I be looking for in that?

you can go to 'configure 3d settings' and at the bottom it will say 'OpenGL rendering GPU'
there you can select your GPU.

Okay it said automatic. So I changed it to my GPU. Ill have to test this out and see what happens.

had the game for over 2 years working fine with my gigabyte GTX 1060 6 gig card
(Uplay only , gold copy )

if you only have a 3 gig model of the GTX 1060 do not install the HD texture pack

FAR CRY 5 and other games easily use over 5 gig of my cards 6 gig of V ram with high to ultra settings ..with HD textures installed

also try a clean install of your video DRIVER

good luck!

also many reviews of the of the game say optimization of far cry 5 was good
you can see benchmarks here

and also there are no plans for any further patches for FAR CRY 5 ..the game got its final patch last November ..and that's the only version you can install anymore

Doesnt seem like anything I did is working. I dont think I have the HD Textures installed, I remember not selecting it either. My task manager still isnt reporting any activity from the GPU. Any other game I play I see the GPU being used.

It may or may not help but at the top of the Steam interface could you click on "Help", then "System Information", right-click on the big box in the middle and select "Copy all text to clipboard" and then paste it into this thread.

try an older driver yet ?? .. Nvidia is not optimizing drivers for 10 series GPU's any longer as they focus on the 20 and now 30 series cards

i had the best luck with my GTX 1060 with an older driver
Well I dont really want to go looking for the older drivers and rolling back. I think they arent available anymore either. I am also getting a new GPU in the mail anyways so that might fix this whole problem. Decided that its time for an upgrade anyways.

I had a similar problem in R6 Siege before upgrading my PC, 10-15 fps or none at all after the Vulcan update, when i rolled back the driver it worked fine with 40-50 fps
Same issue here. I've got a rtx 2060 and the game seems to only use about 60% and very rarely a 80% rise. My fps goes down below 60 in built up outposts which is annoying.
