Why are certain textures just super low res?
The mirrors and dials in all vehicles are blurred completely, almost like the textures just can't load. I've also noticed certain terrain like rocks have a very unfinished look, and some gun textures seem very low res as well. I tried deleting and reinstalling but the problem persists. Anyone know how to fix this? It's killing my immersion, not to mention my rig is more than powerful enough that these problems should not be here.

I'm running 1080p with everything maxed out, HD Textures, VSYNC enabled and Resolution Scale set to 1. It would make sense if I was really pushing my card to the limit, but all these settings don't even crack 5gb / 8gb VRAM my gpu has, so I'm at a loss. I should add, that these textures only went down the drain after I started tweaking some settings higher. I'm well above the "recommended" requirements as per the store page, so these issues don't make sense to me. System specs:

GTX 1070 8gb
i5-9600k
16gb DDR4 2400Mhz

Here's some screenshots to show what I mean.

Really? Without upping resolution scale over 1? Cuz that's the only setting that bumps my VRAM usage up considerably. I have a feeling there is a setting that isn't being utilized properly for my VRAM to nr this low and my textures to be out of whack

how is that possible, I am on 1080p too with everything max and using HD texture pack and my 1070 only hits just under 5GB with res scale at 1.5

Most of the environmental textures are ♥♥♥♥, even on high settings with HD texture pack.

I upped the resolution scale to 1.5 and my VRAM is now 4.8/8gb. Still looks like garbage and and this problem is a lot more widespread than I initially thought. Even characters have blurred out textures, like Joseph Seed's tattoo on his arm was just a bunch of blurry pixels when it was obviously supposed to be recognisable. I'm not sure what else to do here.

Even though the game crashes frequently for me, I changed all settings to max, with the FOV slider set to 85 as the only difference I could see, and mine is only at 4.25GB (out of 7.89GB) VRAM usage. This is at 1920x1080p, 60Hz.

The benchmark hovers between 58,59,60 fps..

They're certainly not the BEST looking textures in the business, but I don't think there's anything really wrong with them..

Sounds like you could be the victim of a corrupted video settings file. I wouldn't even know where to start looking for that, but will definitely check..

Here's where my .xml settings file is; yours should be in a similar location, depending on where your My Documents folder is..
D:\MyDocs\My Games\Far Cry 5\gamerprofile.xml

I would delete it, and let the game generate a new one, just in case it got corrupted somehow. Also, have you set up a specific profile in the Nvidia Control Panel for FC5? Sometimes that helps for some weird reason. It could be a setting in there that might be different as well. Unless you have an AMD card, then I have no clue.

Then there's also the support files here (or similar, of course): G:\steam\steamapps\common\FarCry5\Support\Software

There are the usual ones: VCRD, MSNetFramework, DX.. sometimes manually installing those will help too. Something about admin rights set for Steam.. so many variables, other than the stock settings in the game menus itself.

In game seems to be different than in menu stats/Micky mouse print out, sure in the menu it reads 4.25GB vram but in game it loads up the vram 7.5GB.

I'm playing at 1:1

You really think so? I find them kinda boring and uneventful, but not complete garbage. Just could have been a lot better, honestly.

Ahh, yeah, I forgot about "real world" results. You've got a point. The menu gauge is just a "guess" really.

RoTR same thing 7.6GB vram there's a screenie buried in the public screen shots.

I've only used MSI Afterburner maybe twice before, but I can't get it to show any info onscreen during the game. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'll figure it out eventually..

You click the monitoring Tab.

Look at Active hardware monitoring area then select what you want monitored get it to check mark/high light then look below at "Framerate min graph properties" and you'll see a check box just under check the box hit ok, you have to do that for each item and it'll show "in OSD" beside each item you checked if it doesn't have in osd it won't show on screen display.

I will try this tomorrow. When I deleted it and reinstalled I noticed the .xml file didn't get deleted and remade new. Maybe that has something to do with it. I'll check out the NVIDIA control panel too.
