downloaded Far Cry 5, replaced Hard Disk - now no Far Cry!
hello, hoping someone can help me here as Steam are of no help. I downloaded Far Cry via Steam a few days ago, played it. Today I replaced my hdd with a large SSD. Clean install of Win 7 and been putting progs back on. Could not find Far Cry so re-downloaded it (I think!) took five hours - but when I clock on Far Cry 5 icon nothing happens. In my library it says I have it - but I can't open it. Probs something simple, but can anyone suggest how I go about getting it to work? Many, many thanks. Oh, I'm not very technically minded so please keep it simple eh? Cheers, Nigel

Ah, a fellow W7 fan !
I assume you've re-installed the latest version of Uplay too ? I just launch it from there.

FC5 folder should be found in Documents - my games - FC5 btw.

Is the directory you most recently downloaded it to, different from where it originally was? You might have to tell Steam where the new location is. You can try adding that new folder as a library location in Steam.

Much appreciate all your help: Looked in documents - my games, and in documents there is no folder called 'my games'. I've done a search and I just cannot find 'far cry' on my computer at all. I'm confused as it did say it was 'downloading' yesterday and it took several hours, but I cannot find where the hell it went! Is there any way I can do a fresh install of the game from scratch? thanks again for your help.

Just to mention, with regard to Stanley; Yes, updated Uplay but when I click on 'play' in Uplay for Far Cry 5 absolutely nothing happens!

Update: clicked on Far Cry in Steam, went to 'verify integrity of game files' and it did that in about 15 minutes - said all was fine. So I clicked on play - and nothing happened! I am totally baffled. Should I just delete game and try and re-install?

Hey,

I would recommend trying to reinstall the game and manually selecting the path it's installed.

Eventually I got it sussed. It was (I think!) to do with Steam. Apparently, when I swapped out my hard drive, there was a couple of files on there that belonged to Steam. (I have been messing around that much I can't tell you what they were called or where exactly they were - I think Prog Files 86) [all my games are on my secondary drive] but after connecting my old hard drive to my pc via a usb adapter I was randomly popping some what I thought relevant files back on to my hard drive and when I found these two steam files and copied them over on to my new drive - wallah! So back at the beginning of all this kerfuffle if I had totally deleted Steam and reinstalled it, that would have been the answer. Always simple afterwards isn't it?!! Every day's a school day.
