Prevent indoctrination?

Is there a way to avoid indoctrination? For example, can I refuse to jump from the statue at Fatih and still make progress?

And if no, why do I have to act here myself? And above all, why are these long video sequences (at least when playing through the second one) not breakable?

No.

Those 'Bliss dream with Faith' sequences could and IMHO should be non-interactive cutscenes, because there's no decision-making or gameplay in them.

Most of the video/cutscenes are skippable but things like Jacob's trials count as missions and require you to pass them in order to progress.

Thanks for the answers.
I would have wished at least that one can skip the eternally long video sequences starting from the second play through. But maybe our dear French will learn that ;-)
