FC3 had QuickTime rubbish, FC4 had a couple of episodes, Yetis had the night assaults, & Primal had the tedious Batari & far-too-difficult Ull. But FC5 has reached a new low in terms of out-of-genre elements which can't be avoided.
A game marketed as Open World should be fit for purpose, without the banality and tedium of rails or spray n pray being such an important part of it.
Game Developers should at least TRY to create creative (even hard or seemingly impossible to escape from) traps and not just throw some almost-cutscene in there. Preferably you should even be prepared that clever players will find ways out of that trap and let the plot continue with that slight detour (and without forcing it on the player). And NEVER EVER break the rules for said traps. If enemies can detect where you are, at least be honest and end the game five minutes after the start by having one of these magical enemies put a bullet into the protagonist's head.
Plus, the way all these mini-encounters playout until the grand showdown, it would have felt weird to head to an objective when ready, especially Faith's encounters. You show up just so you can be put into a bliss induced trip? Or you show up to Jacob's mission trigger just so you can get captured?
The mini-encounters were nice little diversions, other than Jacob's which really seemed like was given the least attention. They would have needed to be a fair bit different to make sense if you were to not be forced into the situation and other than Jacob's, I quite liked these encounters as is.
It isn't a normal bullet, it is a bliss bullet. Basically a glorified tranquilizer dart so it makes sense that it only takes one to take you down.
Yeah, I managed to shoot two of those parties once, then took off in a helicopter, and a few seconds later they got me way up while flying…ridiculous…
How the F * * K ?
yup, a complete joke...
Yes this happened to me last night in a helicopter, I was really high and thought WTF when it happened
If this was more like the times in FC3 and 4, where it happens in a cutscene as part of a scripted mission, that'd be one thing. I absolutely don't have control over that. But don't jerk me around by ripping me out of the moment with this kind of crap. It's just as bad as the Kai Leng fight in Mass Effect 3, but now I find out I'm going to have to endure this crap nine separate times? Wish I'd known about this beforehand, because this kind of railroading, shoddy writing, and poor implementation really ruins an otherwise enjoyable game. I'd already ranked this below FC3 and 4, solely because those games were pretty fun, for all their faults. But this capture party crap has turned Farcry 5 from my least favorite Farcry game to one of my least favorite games, period.
Too late to get a refund, sadly.
There is a mod, Resistance Mod—I got it on Nexus:
https://www.nexusmods.com/farcry5/mods/31
If you go for it, NB:
Change resistance points AFTER you liberate Dutch's Island at the start, else you can't get off that island.
You need game version 1.11 or game patch 1.13
To play coop with the mod you need to use the EAC remover.
You can't play Arcade with the mod.
You won't be able to finish the game mission properly since you got to go thru the captures for that, but you get to play all the rest of it—not a deal for me, since the story missions are almost always the worst part of FC games.
The most recent revision of the (legit) game is 1.14.
Ubisoft removed EAC some time ago. So the EAC remover is no longer necessary.
You can. The mods (mostly) don't have any effect in arcade, but you can still play it just fine.
I've finished campaign mode multiple times with the resistance mod.
