Fan going crazy
I previously ran far cry 5 on my old pc with no issues

now when run it on my new pc after about 30-60 seconds of getting in game one of my fans speeds right up and makes loads of noise

i cant tell it its comming form the CPU or GPU

my cpu fan goes up from 1082 to arround 1200 so it is unlikely to be that
cpu utilisation shows lots of peaks in windows task manager
i dont have any tools for monitoring/controlling the gpu fan

is this a known issue?

On face value if your fans are noisy, that's your computer.

Nope, it was definitly a glitch.
It did the same thing when i activated active fan mode manually.

Anyway it started happening after i installed a hdd andvstopped when i reconnected it. So i put it down to a loose sata connection causing strange glitches elsewhere.

But since then issues with 2080 cards have come to lightbso im now not so sure

Hang on, you admited it was a hardware problem, but it's not a problem with you computer (eg, your end)?

Any game that pushes the video card will wind up the video cards fans, and likely CPU fan also, the noise is probably both to a degree, and just because some old PC didnt make the same sort of noise is nothing to go by, maybe the old PC didnt have a very good fan profile, but your fans winding up is NOT A BAD THING, unless you expect your video card to run games at adle, which is silly to expect, just to be clear.

Just sounds to me like the old PC had a crappy fan profile, or the fans never kicked in when the temps got up, so now when you hear the new PCs fans kick in your in panic mode for no reason, its normal that fans wind up with modern games like FC series.
