How do I stop overheating?
I unfortunally have a very old CPU thats regularly clean each week. is there anything I can change in the game files to stop overheating after 10 minutes of playtime. (dont suggest thermal pasting or water-cooling I dont have the funds for it)

Thermal paste is cheap. What do you reckon they put into the compound, gold and platinum?

Proper cooling would help, your CPU should run stressed at 100% with no heat issues.

If you have no money for even thermal paste than try dropping the volts on your CPU if you can and if needed underclock it.

If you are strapped for cash, Grab a cheap electric fan at your local Walmart and have it blow straight into the vents of your rig.

"I unfortunally have a very old CPU" theres your problem this game hammers cpus like the vast majority of ubisoft games, either you can undervolt your cpu whcih might help slighty (doubt it) or upgrade your cpu. even my 8600k at 4.9ghz gets put through it paces.

if you cant afford thermal paste you have bigger problems then a over heating cpu just saying.

My GPU is AMD, my CPU is intel. So I hope it undervolts the intel one and not my AMD card.

just buy a better CHEAP cooler .. a good one for cheap is the Cooler Master 212 Hyper evo
http://www.microcenter.com/product/373900/cooler-master-hyper-212-evo-universal-cpu-cooler

they cost less then the price of a game and work pretty damn good
keeps my i 5 7600 K cool ....even overclocked at 4.4 GHZ never hits above 72 C

if indeed you have a laptop .. get a cooling pad you should have one under a laptop when you game anyway .. and they cost ..again less then a game .. around 30 bucks

Wait wait wait, you cleaned off the thermal paste and refuse to put any back on? You don't deserve your PC, go back to console. You are beyond stupid. You deserve for your PC to overheat and die.

It didnt come with thermal pasting on it ♥♥♥♥♥♥, i got this PC back in 2009, and still working with a old CPU, it was meant to run fallout on low and a few other games on low too.

While he was rather blunt, he is correct on the thermal paste. It is important or rather a necessity, as it facilitates the transfer of heat off the cpu to the heatsink.

Pretty much every modern eletronic device with a cpu has thermal paste between it and the heatsink.

It's no wonder you are overheating, it's like shooting yourself in the foot and wondering why you can't walk.

For one thing, there is zero need to call people names. If you can't take some critisism, honestly, don't post dumb things.

What you are saying is completly false. It didn't come with thermal paste? First thing you should have done is return that PC...or learn about PC's before doing whatever it is that you did. If you refuse to use thermal paste, then the next best thing is thermal pads. But they aren't as good as paste.

I do agree with Dukey Nukey to an extent...if you are going to neglect your rig, regardless if it's 'clean', than it deserves to overheat. Thermal paste costs like, 6 bucks and some common knowledge about PC's.

Or, you can do what SOF said, if it's a laptop, get a cooling pad.

But, again, the only person here to blame is you. Zero thermal paste on your CPU is just asking for problems. If you don't have 30 bucks for the combined said things, then you have a bigger problem then your overheating.

Maybe OP took the thermal paste off his console too. lol

I just looked at the sun, and now I'm blind...now I'm angry at the sun for blinding me.

And if you are playing other games with no thermal paste, chances are you are going to fry your CPU/MOBO, forcing you to get a new one. But if you can't afford 6 dollar thermal paste, I highly doubt you are going to be able to afford a $200 CPU. You are just causing undo stress to something that can be easily fixed.

Only person to blame here is you, not the game.:steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm:
