That being said, save up some skill points and get the skill that provides double rewards from plants and animals and kill everything with a bow a deer will drop 4 skins with every bow kill! and the money will fly in! A deer litteraly needs one Arrow hit it'll limp away and after a few yards it'll drop down, easiest way to grind a little bit of cash!
Well it's either ♥♥♥♥♥♥ payment or a bit more work from your end... Not to mention if you ain't hunting with a bow for the extra loot take an Uzi and just empty a clip in something that kills everything!
While I will agree that the mechanics are a bit extreme, in reality animals are generally much more ferocious in a life or death situtation than humans. They are still closely tuned to their fight or flight instincts, and when cornered, will literally keep fighting until they draw their last breath, even AS they draw their last breath.
That being said, a shot to the head is a shot to the head. But as a previous poster said, there needs to be something to balance out animal kills because it is one of the primary money grinds in the game. If it were too easy then weapon and item progression/attainment would be too fast and easy. Just see it for what it is, a game mechanic a little moved from reality, but for a reason.
