Far Cry 5 Game Crashing

IT wouldn't be a Ubisoft game if it didn't have problems right out of the gate.
Game radomly crashes. I can't run game in full screen because the screen keeps flashing between the menu and black screen. And now after dieing it keeps crashing at the loading screen. looks like I'm going to have to start the game from the beginning again :(

I have a similar problem. As soon as the game launches the screen flashes on and off over and over. It did it yesterday but after installing the nvidia driver that came out yesterday it worked...today its flashing and can't be stopped

I play the game normally. Smooth & all but then it crashes when i played for like 2hrs if im lucky. Idk if its the partner you have because when i called in Nick on the plane it crashed my game. Random crashes. I submit the report to Ubisoft so hopefully they can fix it.

I'm running 2 GTX 1080 in SLI and have a 34" ultra wide screen monitor. I was able to fix mine at first by running the game in borderless window mode. But then i tried dialing back the resolution to 1920 x 1080 then putting back into full screen and then changing the res back up to 3440 x 1440 and no issues.
But still no luck on fixing random crashing

I got the same problem here. Run the game in borderless window mode seem to stop screen flashing but it's only 60 hz.

Same problem here! The game keep crashing, every 30 minutes in general! I tried with and without AA and 2k resolution and 1080p. None of those settings seems to solve the issue. Combined with ingame bugs, I am having a hard time envoying the game.

ok, I ended up with an issue on FC5 where it crashes at "setting up profile" on the menu - solution is that you need to go to Documents>My Games>Far Cry 5 and remove the check.txt & gamerprofile.xml files from there, it'll create a fresh set of files & you're good to go. solved for me.

have you verified your game files ? / some times missions can hang if ya got a bad install

To verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam ..\EXIT Steam ..right click your steam icon ..select run as Administrator

to launch Steam

then go to your Steam games library

right clik on your game (fc 3 4 whatever)

select properties

select local files

select verify Integrity of game cache

it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems

if you still have a problem it could be a Uplay launcher issue .. also very easy to fix ... see my post here

If you have the U play only Version of the game you can also verify your game files with U play

if you have the game via u play only here are instructions how to verify your game files thru their client
Again its probably best to make sure you launch Uplay as RUN as Administrator when you do a file verify

please post your steam system info file this will list all of your system specs


look up top in steam look for where it says Help (right above the word LIBRARY) .
(you will need to exit big picture mode if you have it active in Steam) .
clik on that (it will open a drop down menu) .
then clik system information .
let that load , only takes a few seconds at most ..
once that loads with your system information .
(this will LIST all your hardware and driver info.. its totally safe to post as no one can steal it .. its unique to only your PC build).

right clik on that window.
then select all .

then right clik again select copy (Ctrl + C).

then when you post back (Ctrl + V to paste) .

you may wish to try an older Nvidia driver for your vid chip

you'll wanna run DDU you can get that here

even nvidia them selves host this same file as its the best way to get a clean install of your video drivers

now to an older driver
down load your new driver ya wanna try before you run ddu ..so you can install the driver right away after DDU reboots your PC

get driver version 399.24 id say

the newer drivers are aimed at the NEW RTX cards your GTX 1060 may run better with ..with 3XX drivers .. i use 388.71 for my gigabyte GTX 1060 6 gig card ..but they are kinda old but they work great for me

also i never install any of the geforce exp stuff .. as i do not use it

just the driver and control panel under clean install ..so make sure you pick clean install after your PC reboots from useing DDU to clear out your Vid driver

and remember .. REBOOT your PC after you install your new older driver for best results

one other tip

in Nvidia control panel, i made these changes
Anisotropic Filtering = 16 X
Max Pre Rendered Frames = 1
Set Power Management Mode = Prefer Max performance

also i did install Razer Cortex game booster version 7.0 as it does seem to help with this game
