Thing is if you really want it you can just use Nvidia control panel to force it in games (works most of the time)...
Dont let me start with that TAA, that one is horrible in all games, its just blur the ♥♥♥♥ out of the games...
Agree, I mean Crysis 3 is now old af but still very demanding with 8xMSAA.
As a result you have a choice between jaggie fest, vaseline blur, or tanking your framerate with supersampling.
It's BS for sure. Games from 5 years ago are looking better than the newest triple A games because of this.
Assassins Creed Black flag on my 5k res dell monitor and 4 1080ti's with 8xMSAA looks better than Assassins Creed Origins. It is sad, but yes MSAA is the king of AA that or SSAA.
How is this any different from any other time in the history of Cryengine? It's that Far Cry became popular, but initially it wasn't much more than a demo of the engine. An engine that's notorious for pushing the limits and being unable to be fully deployed even on top of the line rigs.
These past years it's pretty apparent we're in a bit of a limbo. Sure, some games showcase some advanced techniques and beautiful graphics, but it's all going forward extremely slowly. Same with the hardware, everything is being gated for more profits. It seems devs have more and more problems optimising their games, as even 1080 Ti's aren't guaranteed to get smooth framerates in many games of the past 2 years. I'm guessing this too plays a role in the slow advancement of graphics, in general.
