Co op can't unlock weapons?
I've been playing co op with my friend for a few hours now. We knew he wouldn't get story progression, but he also can't unlock weapons?

Which means if we wanna play through the story together we have to basically play through a chunk of the game with each of us hosting it at a time, replaying it.

Is there anyway around this?

I wouldnt see how there would be a way around that. I mean hop into the game of someone towards end and get every weapon unlocked would just be broken.

He can stil play and you can always swap weapons with dead enemy so he can pick it up right?

No, but I don't really understand why it doesn't just progress for him in my world while we do stuff anyway. If he helps me capture a few areas and progress the game to unlock a weapon, he should get that weapon.

Because the way it works, if we get into high level enemies, he'll have low level guns.

Not that I have seen, Funny they got co-op right in Ghost Recon wildlands but there is still no viable Co-op for Farcry. The whole point of having a co-op is so that people can play through the story together,. This is not a Co-op game.

He can take the guns off the enemies and use those. It can't unlock his progress because he can jump on and then clear end game content before doing the basics.

Unlocking powerful weapons early in the game would destroy any balance.

They worked around this in Wildlands by making it so you could help on a mission you did not have access to but you would not get the unlocks\Credit for doing it in your game. Not too hard to implement the same system here so that two people could play from, begining to end together.

Enemies don't use all the guns from what I can tell. For example I have a winchester unlocked- I have yet to see any enemies use those. It -should- just progress his story together.

Again, if he plays the game with me, and we get to higher level stuff, he'll just have low level weapons. So basically my friend is forced to play through the entire set of missions twice.

Grab gun he wants, swap it with enemy so your gun drops and he takes gun. Problem solved.

That sounds like exactly what this is. You can coop anything even missions you don't have access to but it doesn't unlock on friends account.

The only issue he is complaining is that he can't buy the guns you need to unlock as they don't get unlocked when a friend joins you.

You're assuming that money is super easy to come around in this game. It's not. And I can't just trade it or drop it. I'll have to buy a gun, we go find an enemy, I swap it for him, go back to the weapon shop, and grab the gun I want for myself. He also can't buy ammo for that gun, so that wouldn't work anyway because once it ran out after a single group of enemies we'd have to go back it again.

And no, it's not the same thing. He's saying that in Wildlands if you went back to your own world you'd have to replay the mission, but you'd still have things you unlocked in your friend's game.

If my friend plays with me he doesn't unlock -anything-. He has to play the entire chunk of game twice to be able to use those weapons.

It's also a shooter, not an rpg. So it's not like having a stronger gun is going to make you less likely to die. He still gets perks for playing, so he's gonna have an advantage anyway. Bullets still hurt you.

No it is not the same thing at all. If two players in Wildlands played together from the begining then they would get all unlocks and progress in their personal game. In this game, the Host gets everything the guest gets nothing, No progress no unlocks, nothing but money and perk points. The diference is that if you are both on the same step of an area or quest you both get credit. In this game only one person does which makes it a single player game with a helper, not a co-op game.
Teddy Spaghetti Mar 27, 2018 @ 6:02am
Also, we're now playing with him hosting and we are BOTH still getting perks, which means we're getting double perks for the same stuff.

Soooo. We're going to be overpowered anyway, so it's still broken.
