I feel like if you're getting tinnitus from that effect then maybe your game is seriously glitched.
I don't know how many times I heard Sharky or Hurk start to say something, then it gets chopped off by something else that starts up, then they would continue with the same line of dialog again from the beginning. It was very immersion-breaking. All speakers in the game that had anything other than incidental dialog effected that glitch, as far as I can remember. It happened a lot.
