If I buy directly from Uplay, will I be able to play with friends who bought on Steam?
Looks like the Steam version still uses Uplay, but I hoped someone could confirm if they still play well together.

Thanks!

Yes you should be able to since even on Steam you have to have friend on uplay to join them.

The benefit of Steam version (and why I got it) is so friends and see you in game, and you can see them in game without manually loading up uplay every time you want to check. Plus it got really annoying in FC4 and primal when friends bugged me in game.

Downside is another kind of DRM client layer. I hate DRM in in any fashion but in order to play easier with friends I wanted steam version.

I am just thinking about the price. It's cheaper to get it directly on Uplay than on Steam. :)

You're forced to use uplay (account) no matter where you buy it.

The only difference is steam is the download platform.

Personally i bought it on uplay (cause 20% discount for any version so yeh gold here :P)

I am with you Bear. 0 reason for me to ever buy a Ubi game on steam. Makes no sense.

Any game that offers co-op play should still have LAN support. Screw that external server garbage, I want to play when the internet isn't accessible but the LAN is.

You're just buying it on Steam you still need Uplay to use Ubisoft games. So no matter which distributor you buy it from everyone is still on the same network by Ubisoft. You just need people on either friends list and invite them to the game as there is no matchmaking system. You can also just set the option in the game settings to allow a friend to join when they want. So long as you're not on a mission or in a cut scene they can join.

Yes , you will using uplay for that, steam has nothing to do with it even if you buy it on steam.

You're liteally buying the exact same thing whether you buy on Uplay or Steam. If you buy on Steam you will get the game on your Uplay account.
