Ive seen every video so far and played it already and there wasnt a single machete or knife, only fist, sledgehammer, some heat pipe, a shovel and 2 baseball bats...

Unfortunately, there's no machete takedown since there's no machete in the game. There is no machete or long knife, or sword or axe in this game. The only melee weapons available are stuff like a socket pipe, a bolted pipe, various baseball bats, a few shovels, a couple of paddles and brass knuckles.

When you equip a specific melee weapon, you can perform a takedown with them. So if the developers decide to do an update and add a machete into the game, then you will most definitely be able to do takedowns with it. But for the time being, since there is no machete, you will just have to throw knifes as a takedown.

I could say I was disappointed too, I mean... you're up against a bunch of lunatics and all you do is knock them out with a punch sometimes. I'd kill them just to be safe.

Sorry to necro this topic, but I was just looking through the ini file and I saw an option for machete currently set as 0. Didn't want to change it cos was worried about breaking game, but if someone else wants to try, please post the results.

I watched from 7:35 on of that cringy video, an d the dude you are arguing with is right, those are NOT TAKE DOWNS, like in previous Far Cry games. this is lame. you are an apologist for the developers and owners. just because you want it to be and are having nerd rage doesn't make you correct. you literally provided no evidence of an actual "TAKEDOWN" you need to get YOUR eyes checked...
