From an interview with Dan Hay, creative director at UbiMont for this title.
"The map is big! I can’t tell you the specifics of the size just yet, I can tell you that when people are going through the world, they’re altering it in a dynamic way. In previous Far Cry games, you would pretty much go through and have a very – or at least, the feeling of a linear story. What’s interesting about playing Far Cry 5 is that gamers will alter the experience in their own way. Maybe they’re spending a lot of time in one region or they’re really loving one specific character among the Guns for Hire."
"It really depends on how you want to play. For instance, what’s really cool is once you meet someone in the world who’s already been dealing with the cult and they have their own agenda and plan. You can basically invest in their plan or you can take your own plan and when you meet them, they’re unique."
"When you hit hard, the enemy’s gonna hit back harder. Far Cry 5’s dynamic AI tracks the effect you’re having in the game, and alters the enemy’s strategy against you. Be prepared: The cult will boost their efforts when you become less of a nuisance and more of a threat."
"Dynamic"
Like i chose Hurk to attack plane, he kneels and NEVER/EVER FIRE FROM ROCKET LAUNCHER EVEN THOUGH HE HAVE CLEAR SHOT!
Let alone they go infront of the enemy lines, to go LEEEEEROY JENKINS style, and ignoring your commands, you send them to hold a possition, and they FORGET in 5 seconds, they we're on that position, what the actual f***?!
I mean the game IS BEAUTIFULL! And EXTREMELY FUN! To play, but the A.I. gets even FRUSTRATING at the times!
I am used to Ubisoft to overhype their products, but the A.I. Come close to you, and fire a rocket launcher, ride next to you into a river, and try to get out of the river flow, it is not even funny, it's super sad.
my personal favorite is when i click for nick to attack an airplane and they take off half way across the map so i cant help him, then he will get down and the airplane simply has a homing beacon on where ever i drove to. and how many times ive had to kick a gun for hire out of the machine gun cuz they would just LOOK at the enemy trucks or helis and just not fire.
i hate ubisoft AI team with passion. I was 17 when i first coded my AI in a game as enemies. I helped create the first BOTS used in CS 1.5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 10 years ago, and this AI is just CRAP by comparison.
This is gross move then, i love my games Singleplayer, i am honest guy, and i am not shut when i dislike something, hard to find friends for me anyway.
This A.I. is simply joke, i can't belive, that they looked at it and said "Oh alright, this do, release the game"
its working for the mostpart, but seem like the AI have preset settings, if you look at cultists and resistance members, they normally hold the assault rifle like an LMG, but AI in your party hold it diffrently and possibly have diffrent move set and AI algorithem to try and stay with you when not holding, the only thing they are weak to is LMGs and mounted guns.
I wish ...
on another note-
take a game from the same Publishers. AC: Origins. the AI is literally perfect. they couldnt use that structure of AI like Assassins Creed and implement an aggression system based on encounters and aggresiveness of the player?
right now the system is a random spawn. there is no algorithm. its totally RNG. which on makes it seem more stupid. In militias or militarized cults, there would be some semblance of a military structure, and the AI is programmed like chickens running with their heads cut off. they have no individual characteristics in terms of enemy team work. its simply run and gun.
and he will return to you ..and if you feel he is in your way dismiss him
if your gonna go stealth ............ do it alone
One thing that annoys me, is when I'm exploring with them, and when I want to use them, like training fighters, I realize that they are stuck hundred of meters away for some reason. There was no enemy, no path that I jumped over (cause NPCs still can't jump), or anything that might justify them to stay in one spot.
Even annoying when they decide to move while crouching, and there is no reason for that, as I'm not even in stealth.
Not to mention when I'm aiming (sometimes explosives) and they cross my line of fire... -_-
