Compound/Recurve bow range finer?

I bought both scopes for both bows and one of them says it has a range finder? Does that rangefinder involve some way of actually telling me how far away people are? Or is it just to show where i need to aim for 50/80/100/120m, but not actually show me how far away enemies are. Pls tell me how to use determine how far away enemies are if thats a part of the scope, thx.

It's just a meter reader. Does not have an actual digital reader on it.
