Attack Helicopters are Game and Immersion Breaking
For any new players, or people that want to get the most out of this game I would avoid what I did in terms of aquiring the attack helis.

My plan at the start was to simply take the auto repair perk and get an attack helicopter immediately thinking "an attack helicopter would probably be an amazing addition, and give me an edge in game". After getting to the prison I saved up my initial money (which didn't take long) and bought the 4 seater attack helicopter.

Upon aquiring it I basically just flew around and 30 minutes later had conquered EVERY SINGLE OUTPOST in the game with no alarms. My elation almost immediately gave way to dissapointment as essentially the outposts are suposed to provide a fun and occassionaly difficult barrier to accessing the games content.

The problem is that the enemy AI has 0 methods of actually downing a copter, aside from a very rare plane flyby the only real threat was the seldom wildly launched RPG round which was easily avoidable. You just shoot all but one of the alarms, and mow down every enemy in sight that sprints for the final alarm. It takes about 15 seconds. The whole "pay us a $1000 to reload the missiles" isn't really any kind of deterent when the guns can destroy anything and are all you actually need.

So in summation I would actually just avoid the helicopters, once you get them you stop actually wandering through the games environment and just fly from point A to point B obliterating anything in the way. It actually makes the game feel somehwhat tiresome, instead I would recomend taking the wingsuit and airdrop perk and move through the map that way, much more fun and not nearly as stupid an OP.

The game is easy to begin with, the helis just make it pointless. I feel like they should cost at least 5x as much, or run out of machine gun ammo and rockets, as their current iteration is basically godmode.

Also why give the helis flares? When not a single enemy unit I encountered had any kind of lock on AA missile? That alone would probably balance them right there, spawn 3 guys with lock on launchers per outpost or something. Also I'm playing on hard, not that it really makes any difference.

I agree. I captured a big one on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ accident...just flew by and hit some dudes, turned around and hit a few more (Nick was helping) and that was it. Feels like I robbed myself of play. I won't be messing with them in future playthroughs!
I know this post is old but my god dude... ill tell you the obvious.

People have different play styles and people who want to play the game very easily would have chose that perk, you chose that perk so wtf were you expecting? it obviously would have make the game really easy and then you complain about your own actions. really pathetic.

If your allergic to peanuts don't eat ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ peanuts.

I avoided lots of perks because I felt like they would make the game too easy. Your talking like someone forced you to unlock the perk.

They are downed quite fast, but you chose to have a god like perk.

They can shoot you with their guns, mounted guns way faster, RPG, their planes, helicopters, that's way more then 0 ways...... according to that logic they have 0 way to take you down on the ground too. The same as you minus the lock on RPG. Yes they could have better aim but it's how it is.

Also why give the helis flares? When not a single enemy unit I encountered had any kind of lock on AA missile?

I'm guessing it's what enemy's use when you obtain the RPG thingo with the lock on feature.

I kind of regret doing 60% of the game in a chopper, but I didn't enjoy my 40% on the ground that much either.. as they just kept coming swarming from everywhere, including the hostile animals.

I got FC3 with the gold edition.. and it makes a bit more sense with the progress there at least.
Take out the outposts near you, and all of a sudden you can actually travel via the roads without being swarmed, but still have plenty of enemies, not like FC5 where you clear one zone and they are 99% gone from that area, and before that they just keep coming.

They both have good and bad parts, the worst parts in FC5 is storyprogression.
In FC3 you feel helpless and cornered for a reason, but can do something about that.
In FC5 you can fish for an hour, buy a chopper and turn into Rambo, and before you know it you forget what even happens on the ground, and that you still are a bit helpless.(and sell a few more fish for $100 each and get better weaponary)

I still don't think the inclution och choppers were bad as they don't reveal the terrain on the map without landing, and they are a choice.. to get past the story progression as quickli as possible.

Outpost Master did give a taste of what it would be like to play the way you liked to do it. (But it's not the most fun I've had)

1. They are not game breaking. Google for the proper definition of "game breaking.

2. Nobody made you use them.

3. When i unlocked them it was obviouse they would make out posts too easy so i didnt use them. Simple.

Then dont use them, its kinda your own fault. I played the game trough on hardest difficulty without being seen in any outpost, so the game is not that hard without a chopper either, people just are making easy much easier with the choppers.

I don't think I've used a helo in 4 play throughs now. Except the one mission. And no planes due to poor control on PC. The game has been fun enough. But not as good as FC3 or 4 IMO.

You had to fly a plane in the one mission. Stop frontin.

You're right, the one mission, but I never completed it!

Yes, the heli will ruin your first playthrough.
But yeah they should add a cultist with a stinger launcher
Scar Jun 3, 2018 @ 9:46pm
as people said do not use helos then duh

also you can reset the outposts a gazillion times, and do them again not in a helo, solution solved

Do you just go through old posts and rage on stuff to make yourself feel better? The thread is over 2 months old and completely dead lol. Get a life.

The helis are game and immersion breaking so I made a post to warn people about using them. They are OP as hell and the AI can't shoot you down, therefore you can clear every single outpost and basically make the game EZ mode and ruin the first play through. It's what I did and I regretted it. Nuff said.

Not really sure what the issue is, but my God some people have no life ha ha ha.

I was telling you the obvious and your so easily triggered over this, who's laughing at who I wonder.
