Airplane mission

The airplane mission not far from the beginning is beyond rediculous. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ plane is impossible to steer and I just tried it like 30 times in a row. F that. Bad game design.

Any hints to skip that?

if your talking about spray n pray, you have to decelerate to control the flight and speed up through the turns.

I have found it's a lot easier to fly the plane with a controller also. I just switch over to my XBox controller when flying helicopters or planes and use mouse & keyboard for everything else.

This is what I do. No issues doing the plane missions with a controller.

Which airplane mission? The Dixon ones are all skipable. If you want the flying yellow plane hero to join you (forgot his name) then you will have to fly his plane back to him. There are two other missions using his plane but as far as I can tell you don't have to do them. The one that looks unskipable is the final battle against John Seed. You have to fight him air to air. I got shot down, bailed and finished shooting him down from my parachute. I suspect if you get shot down and live and run out into the semi open he will come strafe you allowing you to shoot him down from the ground if neccessary. If you take the convoy destroying mission you can actually land the plane on the ground in front of the convoy, get out and fight, then take off again if no trees are in your way. (the plane will not back up on the ground). I squeeked through with keyboard, you have to plane ahead and try not to engage in tight turns or steep dives/climbs to keep it under control.

Personally I've not had any issues whatsoever with aircraft. Generally in FPSs that have them I skip them in favor of helicopters (I'm looking at YOU Just Cause!), but this game does them reasonably well. I took out several compounds with Nixon's airplane. However, I've played combat flight sims for many many years, so take that as you will.

John's battle is really easy if you take out his tailgunner. He doesn't dogfight worth a damn. Also, aircraft WILL back up.

The airplace is extremely easy to control (I used KB+M) I got bored flying and and just buzzed along rivers and did loops around bridges to break up the slow load of enemy boats.

Just practice bro.

the flight in this game is incredibly forgiving and super fun, i've literally flown nose-first into a dense forest, only to catch my wing on a tree, spin around it, then ride upward along a tree and fly away with little to no damage. it's very fun

Against the boss battle, don't just keep a constant speed. i noticed that when i just went full speed, it was annoying trying to keep up with his turning.I slowed down when he strarted dog fighting and it was really easy to hit him. Then when he flies away throttle back up and chase him.

I keep a controller plugged in for the times you need to use a plane. Plane controls in games are pretty much the only time something with a joystick>m+kb

If you get shot down, which is likely as his tail gunner will either instantly blow you up, knock out your instrument panel or destroy your engine, Nick Rye seems to swoop in and finish him off.
