It gets boring. Fast.
Okay, so i'm 14 hours in and it already feels like a grind. You do the same from start to finish and the game has a lot of problems. Mix all of the above with some questionable decisions that the devs have made.

Now they removed the whole tower grind, great.

-One of the things that you're going to hate immediately is the level lock that they've put on the weapons. You pretty much have to be half way through the story just to buy half the weapons. This just makes you rush the story as fast as possible so as to unlock the gun you want. The (Big) downside to this is that you're mostly done with the story now. I don't personally see myself grinding the same things that i've been grinding for 14 hours for the hell of it.

-You will be doing the same things for the entirety of the game. You'll be running from point A to point B, trying to capture outpost after outpost, blowing up statues, silos and rescuing civilians along the roads. That's it, that's the game.

-They've made driving a complete and utter chore, i don't even bother with it anymore. It's so incredibly annoying because the cultists(enemies) are constantly driving along the road. And i mean *Constantly*, you will literally run past a car every 10-20 seconds.

-The point i made above also applies to other activities such as fishing. I can't tell you how many times that i've just wanted to slow down and stop my killingspree for a little bit, so i find a spot and i start fishing. It doesn't take long for me to hear gunshots close by and half the time some cultist comes running by while i'm fishing.. In the middle of nowhere.. They're everywhere.

-You can't feel the impact of your actions in the game what so ever. I've killed hundreds of these zealots yet i'm seeing no decrease in them. They're still driving cars along the road, still kidnapping people across the road and they're still in the air. The only point at which this stops being true is when you've killed their leader, which means that you're done with that area and will likely never return.

-It feels like i'm playing Far Cry 3.7. It just feels like the exact same game with (some) different guns. You're still getting attacked by the wild life, you're still taking out outposts, 90% of the people are hostile. Let's just be honest here, it's Far Cry 3 with a new map. That's it.

-The devs seem to have given into this SJW agenda. You get 6 humanoid followers in this game. 2 3 women and 3 men. The women here have these really serious backstories. One of them went to afghanistan (What's the male to female soldier ratio?) and is just really annoying all across the board, the other went through some tough ♥♥♥♥ as a child and therefore hates these cultists. Now the men? The mean are complete idiots. The men are just your stereotypical moronic rednecks, all they love is guns n rock n roll. I guess the plane guy isn't too bad though.

-This game doesn't have the best part of Far Cry; Vaas. The best thing about FC3 was by far Vaas. You hated that guy and you wanted to see him dead. This game just doesn't do that, if anything i just feel sorry for the main villains. They literally want to help you (In their own ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up way).

I dunno man I did this one mission where I had to punch cows in the butt.

That insane spawning everywhere is very boring.
The game lacks pacing...you are basically always in the same state of emergency
The game lacks variation...combat plays always the same with tiny modifications
The game lacks anticipation...you hardly have time to breathe and think of what you want to do...most of the time you are forced to react simply
But graphically, it is stunning!

Edit:
The game gets better over time...right now I think the major problem is that begining...too insane to a point it almost break the game.

sounds disappointing. I was already out when I kept hearing 'we've finally done co-op right' and then found out they actually hadn't. How hard is it to have co op like saint's row or dead island?

I already felt like you 2 hours in nevermind 14. Realising how constant threats are.

I posted a comment on a YT vid mentioning the same.

"There better not be another one for at least 6 years. 3, 4 and 5 sure look and feel very familiar being on the same engine. Keeping the same tag sound and semi circle detection icon don't help either. Given the amount of people in the world they could have increased the vericle and human variety. So samey. Though, I'd prefer the world more barron, so unrealistically busy at times. Too much of a good thing gets old faster."

It's fun for what it is but could have been so much more.

Yep, this. I'm pretty much in the same boat as the OP. I really rather regret shelling out $60 for this. I should have waited. I feel dumb now.

EDIT: honestly, I started liking the game a lot better finishing up the story missions in the regions I had already beaten. The insane spawns disappeared.

Also, I've probably shot down $100,000,000 worth of cultist aircraft. Where on earth do they get enough money to personally sponsor the Royal Airforce?

My take:
You will have enemies everywhere when you start a section and if you don't take care of business!!!
You need to be stealthy and take over ALL of the enemy outposts and other things in an area.

THEN and ONLY THEN will you have complete control and the luxury to go hunting and fishing to your hearts desire without enemies.

Play the friggen game!! Don't just ♥♥♥♥♥ about it!

The issue is twofold, really:

1.) The cult has a congregation that rivals the Mormons, and EVERYBODY is armed.
2.) You can mow down HUNDREDS of cultists and there is no change.

You might as well set this entire game in an endless collection of cardboard boxes for as much as you can relax and explore.

I like the constant chaos hopefully they don't just take it all away and instead give a spawn slider.

This would be killer.

I'm not holding my breath, however.

I love the way the FC games are consistent in their methods.
You need to go find something else to gripe about.

also, why does WW2 era aircraft excel at evading modern lock-on anti-air launchers?

It's a pretty common gripe since 3.

You didn't read my post. If you don't take care of business, then the enemies are unlimited.
Once you take over all the outposts and other things like silos (in John's area), everything becomes very mellow.

So pretty much like every single Far Cry since at least 2? Got it... you bought this again, why? Did you PLAY any of the other ones? This is THEE game it's been for 4 versions now. What are you b!tching about?

In three and four I found the story engaging, making me WANT to continue. This one the story is getting in the way of the gameplay because it's trite.
