The Mission "Patriot Acts". Annoying as hell.

So, out of nowhere I started the Mission "Patriot Acts", and it is one of the most annoying quests I played in the last couple of months.

The first part until the house where someone gets into the chopper is fine, I just used my Wing Suit. But from then on it goes downhill. No matter what vehicle I choose, the chopper always gets away.

If I use the road, it doesn't lead to where the chopper will be, and if I drive through the woods, I constantly crash into trees, or the car spins around, or something else happens.

I already failed more than 10 times at that point. Is that supposed to be fun? Anyone else having problem with that BS Mission?

I agree, its a hard mission to complete for little reward. Took me about 15 tries to get it.
FK the Wingsuit. Use the Quad.
Just go fast, take a short-cut, go through the trees and try not to crash. Its a short ride both times. You will get it eventually

Yeah, I try to use the Squad. Still stupid as hell. Right now I did pretty well, then the chopper changed direction and I drove into a lake... Whoever designed this mission, ef you.

Yeah it one of the worst Missions in the game for squat.

I completed it first try, but it could have just been luck. Gotta watch your speed on the quad. Stay off road, but slow down whenever you see bumps, cliffs, or other obstacles.

I might have gotten lucky, but it seemed fairly simlple when I did it. I failed the 1st time, because I thought I was supposed to use a wingsuit, and I couldn't figure it out before the chopper got away. The 2nd time, I just hopped on the quad parked at the mission start amd followed the yellow quest marker through the trees. (Avoid the big stationary obsticles, the quad will knock down any trees/fences etc in its way.)

I just completed this mission, took me about 15 tries. I used the quad. What I found was that for the first "part" of the chase (which constantly tells you that you are losing the copter) I had to go completely "off road". Don't try any fancy jumps, just follow the chopper and do your best to avoid trees and rocks. You'll pass a small camp (don't jump it) and then further along you will cross a makeshift board bridge, at which point the copter turns slightly left. At this point, keep going straight! If you turn left with the copter, you'll meet a waterway and several other hazards that suck. Instead, if you go straight, you'll come to a road. Stay on the roads for the rest of the mission. They will allow you to travel faster and you'll catch up with the copter, and the mission is pretty much done soon after that. Once you hit the roads, it's easy, it's just that initial chase that sucks.

I DONT EVEN have a wing suit, but this game LET me start this mission, and I had to just start the game all over. Cuz I was stuck in this ♥♥♥♥, and following a HELICOPTER on an ATV through the WOODS is impossible.

The quad is just too twitchy and difficult for me to handle with the keyboard. Even with sens turned way down. I play the game for fun. So after a few frustrating times I use the Wemod cheat and simply speed run this mission.

You dont need the wing suit just use the quad.

That said I got stuck after the house but figured it out. Take the jeep, go down the hill and after the jump and the water on the left, once you hit the road go left then take the next right road. The chopper will stop at a house down the road.

If you're struggling look it up on youtube it's not that bad once you figure out the path.

I have no idea why so little people know this, BUT you can abort missions in the pause screen. And buying the ability to use a wingsuit is not expensive (only 1 point, maybe) and it is not even required for this.

I for my part couldn't use it without falling to the ground like a rock (and yes, I used the wingsuit, but damn, it's buggy here and not like in New Dawn).

No need to start the whole game over for this (unless you missed missions, which is very easy in FC5 sadly ...)

I was super frustrated with this one as well, no wing suit but made it to the house okay. Finally did coop with my husband and he drove and got us to the location. What happened after that made me so mad I killed the fed.

I have to add: f... the moron that made this mission. Driving through the forest is insanely difficult and trying to reach the road means you lose the chopper. Also, driving is awful in this game if you don't drive on the road.
I picked up this game for the shooting part, not for this annoying driving S***.

I played this on Hard pretty recently and it wasn't that bad, after you leave the cabin in a vehicle it's mostly a downhill run on pretty open ground, one or two ramps (I can't quite remember), then literally a few trees to dodge and then just get onto the road as quick as possible.

Instead of taking a direct line to the chopper, open the map and plan the route

It's a whole forest do dodge and it's uphill, not downhill. Also, good luck planning on the map when it tells that you've lost the chopper, every time you waste important seconds trying to go around the trees. And the cars are weird to drive, they are unresponsive sometimes.

To clarify, I was referring to the second stage of the mission where you have to get from the Boyd Residence to the Sawyer Residence. I normally wingsuit from the Lincoln Lookout Tower to the Boyd Residence (this is much easier) but I just drove the route on a quad and for the most part you are on a path through the trees, in the following video this guy gets it mostly right but on the run up to the 6 minute mark he fails to follow the path which veers right and ends up in a ravine with a lot of trees:

The second part of the mission is as I described above, both stages are downhill, as clearly seen on the map. In the map you can see a gap through the trees from Lincoln Lookout south to Boyd and then another gap slightly south east from Boyd which brings you to the road north east of Sunrise Farm, you carry on east on the road from there towards Busch-Fertilizer until you can see the road turns south (that's where I usually cut the corner and go through some trees to carry on going south but I just replayed the mission and you can actually stick to the road and still not get out of range) and then head east on the next track you come across.

And yes, the car controls do suck.
