Anyone other solutions? Any help would be appreciated.
you have to disable your synchronous router sound driver in Device Manager, i had the same problem and it took me about 3 days to find out what the problem was, for some reason Far Cry just doesn't know how to respond the synchronous sound driver. And also if you were wondering i was using reaper as a neat way to control all the different audio streams programes were making but just using something like Audio Router to send audio to different devices and windows volume mixer works fine for me in terms of audio control.
Thanks for your help. I looked all through my device manager but I can't find any synchronous sound driver. Would it be listed as a device with that name or do I need to dig into a specific device? I dug a little into some of the audio inputs and outputs devices and the sound, video and game controllers devices but I'm not coming across anything relating to synchronous sound driver in the driver details.
Thanks again for the help. I'm at the end of my rope with this issue =/
I have contacted them and have been waiting on a response. It's Realtek HD Audio, but to my knowledge the realtek isnt actually being used when I'm using the Corsair VOID headset (wireless USB). Under playback devices I can only have the realtek, my tv (HDMI) or the headset as the default playback. And the realtek isnt connected to any speakers anyways.
I found it under Sound, Video and game controllers in Device Manager but if you can't find it then maybe we have different versions of synchronous router.
Oh and also in the games install folder it said if you're having any problems with sound that you should re-install any sound drivers you have, for me that was the Realtek HD Audio Driver.
I'll take another look and wipe my sound drivers while I'm at it. Thanks again for the help.
This makes me think when I have my headset enabled as the default device, Far Cry 5 just simply doesn't put out an audio signal.
Does this raise any red flags for anyone?
Hey sorry to hear you still haven't fixed your problem, but i did just find out something to do with the output of the Farcry5.exe. So it would seem that when i boot up my computer and start far cry without starting reaper the sound works fine so if you are doing all your tests with reaper open try starting far cry first before you start reaper. Also it might help to know where and how your headset and TV speakers are plugged into your computer. i have a USB head set and so audio is routed through Realtek's digital port, if your headset is in a regular audio jack then there might be some sort of difficulty in communication between the game and your playback device. As well if your TV speaker are the inbuilt ones on the TV or the speakers are connected directly to your TV and then from the TV to computer the audio goes through a HDMI cable then this might be why the game recognizes the TV (a digital output) and not your headset.
Sorry for the long post and also for not offering a solution and only more confusion.
I don't actually have reaper. I hadn't even heard of the program until you mentioned but did a search on my HDD for "reaper" just to make sure it wasn't an installed program hidden away that I didn't even know I had, but turned up 0 results.
The headset is a Corsair VOID wireless 7.1. It is connected via a usb but it doesn't use the onboard realtek, I believe confirmed by disabling all of my realtek listed devices in playback and still hearing everything. Being 7.1 I thought that could be the issue so I also tried just switching the headset to stereo but that didn't help.
The tv is connected to my pc via HDMI, but I assume it doesnt use the realtek playback device either since the hdmi tv is displayed as it's own device in playback devices and doesn't require the realtek devices to be enabled.
A possibly important detail I ignorantly forgot to mention earlier, the first time I ran FC5 I had sound with the headset, though there was a sort of reverb. The second time I was playing coop with a friend and I had to max the volume for the headset because it was quiet to the point where it was nearly mute. The 3rd time was when there was apparently no audio at all to be heard. If the headset didn't still work 100% with every other game and program since after the FC5 issue I would have assumed the headset was dying, but that doesn't appear to be the case - since it does work perfectly with everything else.
Thank you very much for your help, even if we can't figure it out it helps my sanity! =)
I'll update my post with actually the solution I found.
If you right click on the speaker icon in windows then choose Open sound settings, then scroll to the bottom and click on Other sound options, App volume and device preferences, you will see 2-3 apps listed (e.g. Steam) and for some reason Far Cry5 was showing there and volume was down to 0. Raise it up and you should be fine
Thanks
