Weapon FOV
The weapon fov (how close the gun is to the camera) is WAY too low. Many people agree, and have said the same thing about previous Far Cry games.

I spoke with an Ubisoft agent on live chat and he told me that there is no feature for increasing the weapon fov, and he is unsure if it will be added in the future.
I asked whether it was safe to mod the feature in, concerning the anti-cheat, and he said it would not get you banned.

I just wanted to get a thread out there to open a discussion about it. Maybe someone who knows what they're doing could try to make a mod, and if not maybe enough support might get Ubisoft's attention. If you have any info or insights on the topic it would be great to have!

I also started a thread on the Far Cry 5 Forum: https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/1861412-Weapon-FOV?p=13406594#post13406594

I'm hoping someone does make a little program/mod/etc for the fov. It was a pain in the butt to change it on FC3, had to mess with the files and whatnot, was super annoying. This one is also super annoying like the frickin' gun is half way into me, I'd like to be able to at least see some of the stock.

I don't have a problem with the weapon FOV personally, and in game support for high general FOV has me covered, but I can see why people would like to change wFOV. More options isn't a bad thing, hopefully someone can knock something up for those that want it wider.

As much as I absolutely love the ability to change general FOV, it almost makes the problem of weapon FOV worse. The wider my field of view, the shorter my arms look by comparison if I cant also raise the weapon FOV.

Yeah, I can see why you have a problem with it. If an option was available to fix it i'd use it myself as well, but I think it's such a minor issue for most that the thought would never have crossed the devs.

The only time the FOV becomes a problem is when you crouch. IDK why but when doing so the gun hugs your camera way closer than usual. I bring up crouching fov cuz that's the only time I noticed a major difference in the weapon size. Try crouching vs standing up, its nuts how much of a difference there is.

yeah it's actually a huge difference. Also if you look at when you have about 120 fov set and you're petting Boomer or reviving a teammate your viewmodel fov goes really far, I'd love it if it stayed there.

Unfortunately the in-game FOV does not impact the weapon. And this game has some cool weapon models! Basically some smart-ass took a dump on the modellers work!

Why even model a great gun if you are going to hide half of it beyond view? absolutely stupid! The sniper scopes are barely visible because of this.

There is a file u can edit for that stuff including HD textures. It's in {This Pc-Documents-MyGames-Farcry5-Gamerprofile. Make sure to open with notepad.

Is weapon fov something that can be changed in this file? I cant seem to find the setting for it. Perhaps a line could be added?

have you messed around with offset and centered?
LMS153 Mar 29, 2018 @ 10:29am
I changed both of them slightly but I couldnt really see a difference. There seems to only be an X and Y axis for offsetting the camera, it would be nice if there was a Z axis for moving the camera straight back.

Yeah, the weapon models are really cool. But you can barely see them because they're so in your face, man. It's absurd with some weapons, like when you're holding the hunter's rifle with the biggest scope on and you crouch, it's like half the screen just looking at your gun lmao. I do not want that, at all. There should just be two fov sliders, a general one and a weapon fov one.

The lever action rifle I think that's what it's called in farcry 4 u can see his hand pulling the lever this farcry u can't.
TR-Jaybles Mar 29, 2018 @ 2:35pm
I have no real problem with Weapon FOV, but on anything that's not a sniper rifle i've got Reflex Sights they are so small and they do give you quite some viewing range even when aiming... Red Dot is to obstructive for me (personally).

I tried to follow the method used to increase to weapon fov in Far Cry 3 but the unpacking tools were incompatible with Far Cry 5 files. I guess we may have to wait until/if someone updates the tools.
