Skip the Story Missions Option?
I'm a bit intrigued by this game. I have always loved the open world parts of Far Cry games.

However...I absolutely loathe the story missions. Far Cry 4 featured some of the worst, most obnoxious scripted story missions in my recent memory. Yogi in particular. I'd have just shot that dude in the face and moved on.

so I was wondering...does FC 5 have any way to skip story missions? Can you make your way through the world and to the big bad guys without following scripted missions? Or are the story missions mandatory?

Thanks.

You want complete the game, you need go trough all missions.

I figured as much.

Thanks for this. I'll keep it off my wish list, then. I had more than enough of Far Cry stories by the halfway point of 4.

If you don’t follow the story, why would the big bads be after you?

You would just be in the role of a minor npc , doing little to resist the peggies and just be a small nuisance to them with no allies to help you out.

It would be entirely possible for Ubi to offer a quick setup cinematic, then task you with finding and taking down the big bads. You would then make your way through the world, gathering clues, talking to people and unlocking unformation about the big bads. It would be dynamic, with no two playthroughs exactly the same.

Instead, Ubi insists on shoving their awful mission design and terrible writing down your throat, making every play through - and pretty much every one of their games - nearly identical in the process.

Its a tired formula that needs to die. Focus more on game play and less on narrative and scripted missions.

I concur 100%. The story missions are too tightly scripted to make them enjoyable on subsequent runs while the free roaming througout the country is a pure joy for me that doesn't tarry with time. I had the same feeling when I first discovered Skyrim.
What Blackcompany suggest might be more complicated to build up. Predigested trajectories might smell after a while, but must be quite more easy to develop.

Of course you can't.

You think a game should allow you to skip right to "the big bad guys" without actually playing the campaign missions?
What do you even mean exactly by "the big bad guys"???

Nice troll attempt, but this game is over 2 years old, and nobody cares any more. Even Ubisoft gave up on it after just the first 6 months.

At least you can co-op the main missions in this one

Actually, I'm pretty sure you can skip most of them if you really want. There are some you are railroaded into doing, but for the most part, you can earn rep point by blowing up crap and saving civilians. I only did a few of the main quest line missions before beating Holland Valley, you just have to rack up enough rep points to trigger the final story mission for the area you are in.
