Low FPS in 4K GTX 1070
Running GTX 1070 with an i7-4790, which equals performance of 6700, with 16 GB DDR3 1800MHZ ram. I run 1440p/60fps Ultra just fine. But attempting to do 4K even at medium settings nets like 20 FPS average.

Test i linked previously does suggests the 1070 can do 30~40 fps at 4K ultra settings, perhaps theres some deficiency on your end, system looks fine in terms of specs. Your cpu is like 5~10% slower than a 6700, but DDR4 exchanges data with the processor much faster than DDR3 which leads to performance gains, but im not sure if its 15 fps at 4K kind of gains, so something else could be goin on.

Just take 1440p and roll with everything maxed out. Nothing wrong with that, id take smooth performance over the resolution bump, if i can't have both.

Well 4K is some 2.5x the 1440p pixel count, otherwise i would point to your system memory. Despite being 16GB, its 1800 mhz compared to a 6700 system that you brought up, that would be running DDR4 and at the very least 2133, but usually have 2666~3000+ memory installed. And FC5 responds to memory speeds, as many hardware channels seem to report.

Otherwise the 1070 really does only pull some 30 fps at 4K ultra settings, thats more of a GTX 1080tis job.

Hey Feldman, I have a GTX 1070 ti with an Intel i7-8700K with 16 GB RAM and I can run this game at the best at 70 FPS, have you checked that your latest Geforce Experience has been updated?

Too weak a system for 4K. You need more CPU and GPU. And maybe faster ram.

i7 7700K @5GHz 1080Ti 16 GB 3600 DDR4 ram does 60 fps nice and fine @4K.

CPU is absolutely fine to run something at such high pixel density, its 95% down to the video card to render.

The 1070 can run the 4K too, just not 60 fps at ultra settings. Perhaps do what user above is saying, and let geforce experience lower the settings for you in order to get into the 60fps range.

i'll see what geforce experience can do to get the 4k/30, but it will probably look better at 1440p ultra

I have pretty much the same rig. i7 4790k (Not overclocked) GTX 1070 (gigabyte gaming g1) and 16gb ram.
The frame rate in 4k max settings with txaa enabled varies between 39 and 30 fps. I locked it to 30 fps and it never drops below.

Do u run it from an SSD? Are drivers up to date? Any additional anti virus running in the background?
Also check your temps as the gtx will lower the clock when exceeding high temps.
Avg temp in FC5 for me is 65-70 °C

It also may be that your rig can't handle 4K, you may need to upgrade to what I have if you haven't seen it up above.

GTX 1070 ti
Intel i7-8700K Core
16 GB RAM
8 GB VRAM

Does ddr3 even do well with 4k?
Just a thought.
Newer cpus don't exactly have that much performance over the old ones, your talking maybe tops of a 20% improvement between his 4790 and a 8700k, unless intel has baked in improved 4k support somehow.

your not going to get high fpos rates with a 1070 @ 4k.. Its just not going to happen with a game like Farcry. You have champagne expoectations and a beer budget cpu and GPU. Im on a GTX 1080Ti and a 5960x and id still not expect high fps rates on FarCry 5 at 4k.

You are on a single 1070, no way it can handle 4K

I am on a 1070 myself and it works best with 1080p, even 1440p would be a stretch in newer games that aren't optimized

Don't think some of you are reading and my rig is far from PBR pricing.

On ultra, at 1440p, with a GTX 1070 and i7-4970 non k OC'd to 4.1 ghz, i get a solid stable 60FPS AT ALL TIMES. Bumping to 4k, i struggle around 15-20 but it seems in hardware tests and for the requirements, i should be able to run 30 fps at 4K and not necessarily on ultra. Even the person above said they get 30-39. If the DDR3 is what's killing it, then so be it. The game is better playing at 60 fps anyways. To tell me i can only run 1080p is an insult with my setup. I know a 1070 is aimed for 1440p gaming, but i'm able to get 4k out of a lot of games and this card should be able to achieve at 30 fps.

You should've bought the 1080.
NitreuX 4 maj, 2018 @ 14:20
1080 is for 1440p not the 1070
Daethz 4 maj, 2018 @ 22:44
This thread is exactly why I don't plan on upgrading to 4k until i have a gpu atleast two times the performance of a 1080gtx, also a 4k monitor with 120hz.
