Gone Fishin quest bug.
I have the Gone Fishin' quest requesting me to catch a sturgeon. I have now caught 4. One hard and one normal of both paddlefish and pallid but the quest will not update. Please help?

The Quest reads different than the tracker, in having to catch 3 types of fish.

I went to different areas fishing, I missed seeing the icon for the paddle-fish sturgeons below the airfield so that was my last stop.

I caught two paddlefish before the game registered it for me, so it does seem pretty buggy.

I'm having the same problem, has anyone figured out yet how to complete this, i've caught 4 of each sturgeon now

It took me two before it updated.

I run into the same issue. It seems that it was introduced by a recent update from Steam.
Cauth around 5 or 6 of them - still no result.

I just completed it last night after the patch.

Did you try catching 3 fish of different kinds then the sturgeons? The quest tracker doesn’t match the quest script.

@Frostbringer, thank you. I tried doing that too, but it doesn't help.

Quest script is defenitely broken - in my case it had only 1 task instead of 3 - "CATCH Sturgeon" - right from the beginning, whne I got the quest. And it is still in that state :(

I have the same problem and with wolf beacons.

Had the same damned problem. Tried all sorts of different sturgeons and it would not show mission accomplished. I restarted the game and somehow it registered the next time I caught a sturgeon.

Just ran into this problem. This is the 2nd time I'm playing the game. The first time around it worked fine. This time it wouldn't register no matter how many sturgeons I caught. I went to the location close to the Rye Airstrip. I turned off the tracker for the fishing mission and caught the 5th sturgeon and it registered that time. Seems like if you fish before doing this mission (didn't fish at all until this mission when I first played the game) it bugs it out? I hope the fix it soon....along with the other bugs in this game lol.

Now what I want to know is why my damn line keeps breaking no matter what I do. As soon as my line started turning yellow I just stop reeling in the line and let go of the mouse until my line turns green again. That usually works. This time around no matter what I do my line breaks. I've been trying to catch this guy for over 30 mins now..... getting tired of it.

Make sure you are using the "Natural Fishing Rod". You buy it from the gun store and it has a stronger fishing line than the "Basic Fishing Rod". In using it, wherever possible, pull in from the side with your rod parallel to the water. Pulling straight in has a much greater chance of breaking the line.

I'm on my third playthough and tried a different approach. I decided to get the strongest "Old Betsy Rod" before tackling the Admiral. You get that rod by breaking all of the county fishing records. You need to have liberated the County Jail, Fall's End and be introduced to Eli at the Wolf's Den for the records to unlock. You also have to find the appropriate "hard" fishing spots which are the only locations where records can be set. A Google search will reveal these. Once I got "Old Betsy", I reeled in the Admiral in one shot, taking about a minute.

But here's the downside. The Admiral appears to be a paddlefish and you need to break the state record for paddlefish to get "Old Betsy". If found that you have to capture an average of three fish of each type to get a record holder. The standard paddlefish is a bit easier to capture than the Admiral, but not much, and I had to do it three times with the relatively weak "Natural Fishing Rod".

I concluded that this was not the easiest approach to the fishing challenges, but I did appreciate being able to take down the Admiral in seconds as very the last fishing event of the game.
