any tips on catching the admiral?

i'm having such a tough time its pissing me off, i've been trying to do everything that it tells me to but they keep tiring out my fishing rod and its near impossible to catch it

have you fished other fish in the game?
the admiral is a tough one so its best if you practiced first on easier fish.

you can buy a better fishing rod in the weapons store and theres also a fishing perk to make things easier.but even then it takes a few tries.

when you reel in aim fishing rod in opposite direction from where the fish is trying to go,also when the line starts going really red stop reeling in and let it cool down,its very rare to just reel in a fish without having to cool down the line at all when you first start fishing.
later on with some upgrades there are times you just reel in in one go and its very quick.

i already bought a better fishing rod

i'll try to let it cooldown but what if the fish runs away when its cooling down?

as long as he is hooked on the line you can take a long time to reel in,cool down,reel in ,repeat.

I'm having a real problem with this:
1. yes, I have the fishing perk
2. yes, I have the second rod
3. yes, I have caught other fish (pretty much every kind of fish in the game, multiple times, up to about 40 lbs or so)
4. yes, I'm moving the rod in the opposite direction of the fish
5. yes, I reel slowly, reel when the fish jumps, and only reel when the line is green

Still, I've been at this about 2 hours, and I've had him nearly up to the boat half a dozen times, but then it's like his strength returns and suddenly he's a 100m off again and I feel like I'm starting all over.

Then, he gets under the boat, under the dock, around a rock, and the line breaks and start all over.

I wish this mission had a "skip" button so I could just skip to the end.

Are you using mouse and keyboard? Fishing with mouse and keyboard is significantly tougher than with controller, because you have to move your mouse a LOT to generate the same movement as just moving around your analog stick.

I found it impossible for like half an hour with mouse and picked up my controller and did it first time no problem. Some tips I've heard that help if you are using mouse though, are to go in and turn up your mouse accceleration to max temporarily, and turn up your dpi on your mouse if you can.

it was super hard for me until i found it i had to let it cool down and then keep reeling it in and repeat, then i finished it immediatley

Figured it out. Get a game on Co-Op. Get someone to drive a boat and the other to fish. Once you get him on the line, move the boat to the fish and you'll instantly get the fish. Fished for 2 hours, then tried this and got it in 5 seconds.

So much fun when it always go from green to broken without going through yellow or red. When it goes to yellow and red you have no reaction time to do anything, should have a button -release line-.
