Why do male players, play as female charcacter?

I find it weird, especially on co-op. When you see a female charcater, but also hear a male voice from female character. Does anyone else find it weird?

Every Far Cry game had a male main character, so I picked female.

I decided to go with a female avatar because in a narrative sense, everything felt more 'creepy' as a woman. Like the whole cult vibe, and Joseph Seed all just felt more intense from that perspective.

Playing as a woman on my second playthrough, I thought some of the dialogue or story might have differed slightly but haven't noticed anything different so far.

I'm a male and a play whatever I damn well please in video games. If I think the female avatars look better, I pick those. Sometimes I think the male avatars are better and I play those. Often I base it on which voice actor I prefer.

Since a lot of games just force you to play Gruff Military Dude, I tend to gravitate towards something else when I get the chance.

I also played a super-ugly gnome with a crazy beard and hair in World of Warcraft. I'm not a gnome in real life, but it was way more fun to play than a human, and as an added bonus, certain people seemed to be offended by the mere existence of gnomes, and you could annoy those sad people just by being in the game.

Because all the other far cry games make you play as a male (I think maybe you could choose a couple of females in Farcry 2?) Felt like playing female this time round I guess

If I have a choice in 3rd player games I always pick females. If I have to run around for hours looking at a ass, it might as be a shapely female one.

1st player games I always play a male.

But to be honest, I really don't care either way as far as other people go.

This is exactly why I don't watch modern movies, woman shouldn't be protagonists, they should be in the kitchen. They can't be anything because it offends my masculinity.
It's not like women had to put up with decades as playing male characters.

Why do people want to role play? Why did you choose a female voice on the suit in Crysis? Because it is more easy to hear. Why use the female voice in with car navigation, because aganst the rumbling of the motor and the roads it too is easier to hear.

Why did Arnold S have male bodybuilder posters on his walls even though his parents thought he was gay? The type of argument in this topic could just as well say that people are secretly gay, you want to be with that hunk piece of manliness and macho men.

Seems to me that men who cannot play as the opposite sex are usually quite insecure, they need to have their masculinity enforced.

I choose women quite often because it is a different perspective and for the fact that often the voice-acting for the female is better than for the male. This quite clear in for instance Deus Ex Invisible War.

I also take pleasure in being more of an underdog. In this case religious fanatics getting their a zz es kicked by a female? Superb!

I actually tried playing a female character in WoW once. Didn't even reach level 5 before creeps were hitting on me. Couldn't imagine having to put up with that crap constantly.
