The dudebro thing in FC3 also annoyed me at first, but it actually was part of the whole story ark and development of the character.
Kinda, except that didn't change. He just became a dudebro who kinda liked killing people more than he should.
Yeah, but he started as one sort of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and turned into another sort of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I REALLY hated being him. FC4's Ajay was a little better at least.
the other jokes are fine for me, at least the ones that the NPCs say. I think, FC5 is an adult game, aimed at a adult target audience. there are a lot of other games 18+ as an example for having children as target audience. FC5 is not like that, IMO.
I am talking mainly about NPC dialogue. If the target audiance is supposed to be adults then they are doing something wrong, if the target audiance is not also supposed to be retarded adults, in that case they might be on the right track. It is like they are trying to be edgy and cool, and just coming off as pathetic and childish.
I do think the setting had something to do with it -- in fake S. Pacific or fake India they probably wanted more of a "These are people with a proud heritage" vibe and they could loosen up a bit more with the Montana setting and everyone is speaking to a local (the Hope County Deputy) rather than some outsider.
