Character customization is a bad idea
This is the first Far Cry game where you can customize your character by choosing gender, race and a lot more, but in my opinion this is a bad idea because i like it when there is just one chosen character that has personality and its own backstory and one that can actually talk. That`s one of the things i didn`t like about this game that you can customize your character. In the other Far Cry game the protaganists were more interesting because it was just one chosen character.

I actually prefer it this way haha

i played far cry 3 and 4 recently, and i have to say the character i was playing as was super annoying, especialy in FC3

Mostly I just wished he'd shut up...ruined every interesting moment with some stupid, inane comment

Far Cry 4 guy wasn't as bad, but i didn't really see that much personalty there. Yes, he had a back story, but mostly he didn't really feel like a developed character to me.

But personal opinions and all, i guess! I prefer this way, than the dumb FC3 guy or the FC4 guy =D

My character, my way, my choices and actions.. Not some other idiots life I have to inherit.

The more 'blank' and customizable a char is the better. Sadly in this case there weren't much more to do after the story.
But I still rather go into a game as a nobody I created myself, then Take the role of Geralt of Riva..as he have his (lack of) personality and I have mine.
Geralt also seems more adapted to the world and lore (and the horrible fighting) then I am, so in Witcher 3 i'd like a 'play this one for me and I watch the story'

I don't deny that the Baron story in The Witche 3 were good.. but I didn't find anything like it before I uninstalled it.

Be creative.. make your own story, don't even bother with main story would be my standard answers/suggestions, but this game were a bit .. lacking in that department, both in and after story.

I agree with OP. In a single player story based game there is zero need to have a customizable character. I don't see the point when nobody is going to see the character except for your buddy you play co op with, yay. Go put your time into a game like black desert online or the like if you want people to see your character.

It's a waste of time in a mainly singleplayer game, some of the best singleplayer games ever would be ♥♥♥♥ with character customization to make the game more bland with less interaction with the character.

It works with some(mostly multiplayer) but it takes from others

You change the look of your character not it'a personally. Your customized character will lack a personally next to Geralt because your customized character won't even talk.

Devs made a decision to leave the back story entirely on the player's imagination. Some like it, some don't. For me it all the same as even a well written back story couldn't help the poorly written game story. In a game with strong emphasis on the main character such as Mass Effect this would be entirely different.

Most games out there won't allow any form of character customization: COMPLAINS ABOUT LACK OF CUSTOMIZATION.
Far Cry 5 breaks this paradigm and offers character customization with outfits, gender and hairstyles: COMPLAINS ABOUT CUSTOMIZATION

Couldn't disagree with you more. Skyrim is my counter argument.

Customization is always welcome, even in games like Far Cry series, and it was a great feature added that broke the paradigm of other Far Cry games, but Skyrim is not a good parameter for your argument, since the game allows you to play in both first and third person, which lets you look at your character, unlike Far Cry 5, where you only see yourself entirely when you're dead, LMAO.

Skyrim was one very boring empty what the hell do you do games, other than mod it and make it look pretty.

vs. Far Cry 5, a game that consists basically of three quest types, find a cache/trinket via jump puzzles/follow the map, liberate 20-25 outposts with a different building and layout being the only difference, and the main story-line where you are "riding the rails" and beign driven to complete each stage.

FC5 story was good, but pales to what Skyrim offers in both choices to make in questing and character skills/customization, and being a better open world experience in not being driven to complete each zone.

I really like it this way, it's like playing fallout 3/NV compared to fallout 4, it's me thinking the things, me acting the way i do, etc, not me thinking something in my head and the main character saying something really stupid while i'm like ''Why the fk would you say that?'', the only reason i did not like FC3 was because the main character is a casual whining rich kid, in FC4 it wasn't as bad but the main character was still annoying from time to time.

FC2 had several premade characters to play as that gave you about as many options as the FC5 editors limited function does lol.

i know, FC3's character was the absolute worst...just stupid comments non stop, talking ot himself about things he doens't need to say aloud or ruining a otherwise awesome moment with yet another stupid comment...

i see some amazing ruins, filled with hot springs and steam geysers...

character: 'it smells like sulfur! either that or i have bad B.O'

...thanks for that comment. That was so necessary, it added so much to the quest and to the story -.-

i'd much rather a completely mute character like FC5, Portal, Portal 2, or X amount of other games than one with run on commentary of that level
