i played far cry 3 and 4 recently, and i have to say the character i was playing as was super annoying, especialy in FC3
Mostly I just wished he'd shut up...ruined every interesting moment with some stupid, inane comment
Far Cry 4 guy wasn't as bad, but i didn't really see that much personalty there. Yes, he had a back story, but mostly he didn't really feel like a developed character to me.
But personal opinions and all, i guess! I prefer this way, than the dumb FC3 guy or the FC4 guy =D
The more 'blank' and customizable a char is the better. Sadly in this case there weren't much more to do after the story.
But I still rather go into a game as a nobody I created myself, then Take the role of Geralt of Riva..as he have his (lack of) personality and I have mine.
Geralt also seems more adapted to the world and lore (and the horrible fighting) then I am, so in Witcher 3 i'd like a 'play this one for me and I watch the story'
I don't deny that the Baron story in The Witche 3 were good.. but I didn't find anything like it before I uninstalled it.
Be creative.. make your own story, don't even bother with main story would be my standard answers/suggestions, but this game were a bit .. lacking in that department, both in and after story.
It's a waste of time in a mainly singleplayer game, some of the best singleplayer games ever would be ♥♥♥♥ with character customization to make the game more bland with less interaction with the character.
It works with some(mostly multiplayer) but it takes from others
Most games out there won't allow any form of character customization: COMPLAINS ABOUT LACK OF CUSTOMIZATION.
Far Cry 5 breaks this paradigm and offers character customization with outfits, gender and hairstyles: COMPLAINS ABOUT CUSTOMIZATION

Them creeps are NEVER happy with what they have in their hands.
Customization is always welcome, even in games like Far Cry series, and it was a great feature added that broke the paradigm of other Far Cry games, but Skyrim is not a good parameter for your argument, since the game allows you to play in both first and third person, which lets you look at your character, unlike Far Cry 5, where you only see yourself entirely when you're dead, LMAO.
FC5 story was good, but pales to what Skyrim offers in both choices to make in questing and character skills/customization, and being a better open world experience in not being driven to complete each zone.
i know, FC3's character was the absolute worst...just stupid comments non stop, talking ot himself about things he doens't need to say aloud or ruining a otherwise awesome moment with yet another stupid comment...
i see some amazing ruins, filled with hot springs and steam geysers...
character: 'it smells like sulfur! either that or i have bad B.O'
...thanks for that comment. That was so necessary, it added so much to the quest and to the story -.-
i'd much rather a completely mute character like FC5, Portal, Portal 2, or X amount of other games than one with run on commentary of that level
