The story missions absolutely ruin this game
I've only played about 8 hours and I went straight from the starting area up north, so I'm not sure if this is how the entire game is played, but the constantly forced missions that just sweep you away "because REASONS" is beyond irritating and it only breaks the immersion. It's also incredibly clear that Ubisoft stopped trying to make a half-assed story a long time ago. The cult thing in rural America I could understand, but being lulled to sleep by a magic music box and more psychoactive dream sequences is just getting bland and feels incredibly lazy.

Without too many spoilers, does the story ever get better or is it just more of the same outlandish nonsense in the other two areas of the map?

far cry 3 and 4 never have those force scenarios. it would make sense for the enemy too track you down if you keep liberating their bases. i honestly dont mind it.

as far as the forced missions there is a mod to lower the resistance points

Hunt you down yes, but lull you to sleep with a magic song or just have imaginary darts take you out (I was flying over the starting area in a plane when his hunters nabbed me...) is the ridiculous part. I was actually pretty excited when it said a hunting party was coming for me because I started to set traps so I could actually defend myself, but from out of nowhere, my character just decided it was time for a nap - completely surrounded by proximity mines, allies, and remote bombs.

It's the same crap in the other areas/regions. 3 times in each=9 times total listning to this bliss bs. You just have to accept it. It's been a lot of complain's about this so Ubisoft won't repeat this in a future FC 6. But arcade mode is good!

those are bliss bullets .. they yes Knock you out , arrows ..as far as Jacobs song .. thats part of your mind getting screwed by the bliss Drug + the cult trying to lure you in

again if your resistance points go to high yes your gonna have deal with what happens ..

use a mod to lower that and deal with the story as it was written

did you ever watch the prequel movie > ? maybe ....ya should

Without doubt the main story and its mechanics are the most half arsed, poorly designed and thought through game play mechanics seen in any game for a very long time. Why would any team of designers think using the same abduction mechanic so many times in the same game was a good idea. Its such an old trick to pull even once these days, in a fps, its bizarre they thought they could do it so many times and having to shoes horn it in to the point that you will be abducted whilst flying a plane. LMAO.

Yes, I'm afraid the story is a bit weak and repetitive.
I played FC5 and FC4 back to back and I am still sure that FC4 is more challenging overall in terms of action. To test this I constantly play about 1-2 hours on 5 then switch over to 4. There is much more difficulty at every level in 4 (except perhaps NG+ INF in 5) and I have now tested that on pretty well all the major battles. Also the detection rate in 4 when trying not to be spotted is higher. Last night I reset all the cult outposts to hostile again in 5 and took at least 5 of them out in about 30 mins, all with max bonus for no alarms and no detection. Much more difficult to do in 4 and I get killed much more often in 4, even when being as stealthy as I can be.
So, generally, my money is still on 4 for entertainment and engagement.

They definitely dumbed down 5 for some reason and it really shows. If anything, the lack of full key-mapping is unbelievable to have in a present-day game.

I've installed a mod that slows down RP yields on mundane actions, and I've gotta say I've managed to go through more story missions than on my previous playthrough. I've even encountered some missions I didn't even know existed!

I hated this games story, but reading that actually kinda made it feel less lazy, and a little more inspired.

The Far Cry franchise is the hardest franchise to give your opinion on, because it's a 'you love it or you hate it' sort of franchise, i'm personally a someone that adores FC5, But hates FC3. This is because Far Cry has always been an experiment. From Far Cry to Far Cry 2 almost everything changed. You loved or hated Far Cry 2. Then came Far Cry 3, and you can again see that the only thing Far Cry 2 & 3 have in common is the map editor. People loved Far Cry 3, but not because the game was good, but because people wanted to see the next crazy thing Vaas would do. Personally i think they should rename Far Cry 3 'Climb 'N Shoot' because the only thing i did was:

1. Cimb a tower.
2. Liberate 2/3 outposts.
3. Grind animals i can't find on their dedicated spot.
4. Do a story mission.
5. Repeat.

Then Far Cry 4 came around the corner and i actually liked it ALOT. It had all the guns Far Cry 3 had and added A LOT of new guns in to the mix. I (for some reason) liked Pagan Min better than Vaas but that's another story. But never the less; people didn't like FC4 because it was 'Just more of the same' so 4 installments later Ubisoft still didn't have a solid concept of what the FC Franchise should be. So FC5 was another experiment. And as such, if you don't like the main story of FC5; just go play the Arcade. Because the Arcade mode itself is worth a 10/10.

I loved Joseph Seed and i loved the main story, but if you didn't, it's propably because Ubisoft is still experimenting and still haven't found a solid concept.
