I don't think this is a "White america" thing. It's a Waco thing. A Heaven's Gate thing. A death cult thing.

If this were set in Brownistan there wouldn't be anywhere near this level of overreaction from the gaming fanbase, but because it's so close to home it's getting blown way out of proportion.

Social media doesn't help either. It encourages kneejerk reactions that others can quickly retweet, without taking even a second to think. So we get social media "contraversies" out of nowhere. All reported by scummy websites eager to fill column inches.

Think back to reveals before social media. Remember how sane people were? Remember how people had time to think and form a proper conclusion, even if they were posting on forums?

Global social media was a mistake.
