Are People Still Playing?
Hi Everyone, Just picked this up on sale and wanted to know if it possible to still find games? I heard a few months ago that this game was dying and wanted to see if people are still playing?

Yeah, I find matches very quickly. The game is far from dead.

WOM launch was a disaster. It reintroduced many - MANY, bugs that had already been fixed. In addition, they tightened the dodge window to be so small that if you had higher than 50 ping it was impossible to dodge. Even while hosting, it was super tough to dodge. Beastmen were a buggy overtuned mess, and people had a lot of complaints about having to grind through weaves to progress their characters and gear again.

Weapons were nerfed senselessly, like weapons that were usable and served even a niche role were rendered utterly useless. This was done in conjunction with the stagger being introduced and it changed the core gameplay mechanics so much that most players felt alienated. Any time a game makes huge sweeping changes to core mechanics that were fun and worked, they will piss off a large chunk of their playerbase.

The game's performance took a huge hit, people who had steady 60fps+ during hordes were now stuttering and dropping frames like crazy (myself included).

I have over 50 friends on steam added through this game, who went from playing daily, to almost none of them playing anymore. They all stopped a little while after WOM launch, it was such a mess.

Much to Fatshark's credit though, they rolled back the dodge changes, weapon nerfs, and fixed most of their reintroduced bugs (bugs that have been fixed and reintroduced on up to that point multiple times).

TLDR: the game feels like it did pre-wom, which people say were the glory days, and I mostly agree. A large part VT2's audience was driven off and probably won't ever return. New players seem to keep joining and enjoy the game for what it is, and it's about as fun as ever IMO.

The game is def worth picking up and playing. Be warned though, the lower difficulties to a lot of people are found to be boring. The game really starts to shine at champion and higher difficulties.

Lol, the people saying the game was dead were only people who couldn't manage the game changes anymore since the WoM patch in august 2019, and who tried to convince themselves that they did the good choice when ragequitting.
But the fact is the numbers of players never been as high than the last month (April 2020) since july 2018 (but march 2019, and august 2019 for the WoM expansion, as the exceptions).

4074/8100 in April. (May is not finished so the numbers are incomplete until the 31th)

The game is not dead, far from it. It is almost at his best since the last 18 months.

No. The devs have killed off pretty much all casual players. This game only continues to exit in the minds of its fanboys and fangirls. Don't buy it if you haven't already.

Also Fenris your comment is massively misleading.

With 'rona lockdown no wonder more ppl are playing games. Don't try and sell vermintide when its really coranivirus lockdown which is artificially inflating player numbers rn.

2-3k people playing at any given time is far from dying and you can see it on steam charts. I play the game since very release and playerbase is fairly stable. No issue in finding games.

The game is very much alive and there are plenty of lower difficulty (recruit and veteran games) available in the quicklplay matchmaking lobby (at least in Europe). A new player should have no problem finding a team.

Stable 3-4-5k players are alwaysw online , depends on the daytime.

Just to let u know for further referace steamchart.com will tell u exactly how many ppl play the game on steam per month/day

We got along fine with 1/10th of the playerbase on vermintide 1 back in the day. It's all good.

You hear every week that this game is dead/dying since it's release.
Game isn't going into the direction of a grave anytime soon, unless the devs decide to yeet it out of the window for some reason.

The game is alive and well.

However devs took a massive blow to morale and been quiet for longer this time, not to confuse it with abandonment or indifference, they are still here.
the last dlc/expansion was a massive undertaking and thanks to a few technical shenanigans it got mostly negative on steam, that doesn't mean its bad, it just added some needless turbulence, but they pulled it through.
