depends on which hero

stamina shields are mainly used for pushing on tank characters so the block cost reduction is only a small factor if you ask me

Depends on playstyle. Personally, I prefer to keep the crowd in cheack actively, this means a lot of pushing. So the Stamina is more helpful for me. If you use mainly to block I would go with the reduction. Or if you have off-balance as you have a better synergy.

The only reason I see to use block cost reduction is combined with offbalance. I got both on Unchained, coz sometimes you need to block to vent. With Offbalance debuff, at least I'm doing something usefull when I block.
Tip : pushing works like a "taunt", so use it to get agro then debuff the enemies.
Off balance also works for you. I just love to offbalance the crowd before using Unchained ult.

What about extra stamina shield vs stamina regen?

Stamina regen is pretty epic if you stack it. Most situations I would probably just take the shield though.

Very nice to stack it on handmaiden : you can push stab with spear all day long. Very effective way to CC while you DPS.

Stamina gives you more shields, meaning you can handle more small damage [will recover slower but you can hold on for more time]

Block Cost Reduction / Regeneration gives you less shield, but you ca recovery fast, meaning you can handle heavy attacks that removes all shields by recovering fast enought to tank more of those attacks.

The difference is:
Staminge VS tons of weak attacks.
Cost Reduction / Regen VS heavy attacks.

Remember that there are attacks in the game that drain all your stamina in one hit regardless of how much you have. Block cost reduction is the way to go, you can do far more with less stamina rather than waiting for it to fill back up. The only time I would recommend getting more stamina is if you only have 2 shields.

Get more stamina on weapons with low amounts. Having even one more partial shield gives you an extra push/push attack.

Off balance works for you too in VT 2? Wtf.

Why not just both? Take Parry + Stamina regen! :steamhappy:

Yes it does, and I'm happy about this change. Seems it's (again) badly described, as Grimalack test showed that it's only 20% damage increase instead of 50% as the perk claim...

Parry seems to be good, but as a more aggressive player I like to run Opportunist (especially on handmaiden with spear push attack)

Parry is godlike, I love it on my Shield Merc or Greatsword Knight. You can block Warriors all day long that way. Or hordes for that matter. Though GS could use a buff to block speed / transition.

But it's most definitely NOT a trait for a typical VT player. But if you ever liked Dark Souls... :steamhappy:

Remember there are pushes, and you should use those just as much if not more than jsut passively block attack, and block cost reduction does not really work there, which is why unless I am playing a litteral tank I would always go for stamina
